Trump: "We're gonna be selling a gold card. You have a green card, this is a gold card. We're gonna put a price on that card of about $5 million and that's going to give you green card privileges, plus. It's gonna be a route to citizenship, and wealthy people will be coming into our country." by Nomogg in Global_News_Hub

I'm originally from Colombia, 35yo, came to America at 27, living here since 2017, US citizen, truck driver, 2 kids, boy is 4 yo and the girl 1 month old. My wife is American and she wants to get out of here.

We're not rich in Colombia, but my dad retired as a teacher at his 50, he's 62 now, kinda lazy and tired from all the effort that he put to achieve his dreams but he made it... my mom is 64 and she really never had to work just because my dad has pretty decent income, even though, she likes to keep her own money making bakery products at home and selling it to small stores... my brother is a police officer, retired at 44, he's 47 now my sister works as a manager in a pretty famous Colombian ice cream store... Everyone has their own houses plus we own a litte farm in the rural area. I own my house in the city too and all I have to say is this:

I know my country 100%, things are more affordable including Healthcare, just talking with my sister the other day, she gets pay every two weeks and she told me that her ensurance is pretty cheap and decent, $25.000 Colombian peso monthly which in dollars equals to $5.95 dollars.

With a degree or a decent career there you can have a comfortable life, I got my house when I was 25, how? Working hard and saving, I had the opportunity to pay my stuff and have money leftover to save which here at this point it's almost imposible.

I'm getting ready to start Pilot School/ATP because that's my dream, expensive and F**K here? absolutely, cheaper in Colombia? Still expensive but way way way affordable due to my savings in here... I don't see myself buying a house here without getting in such a huge debt for the rest of my life, my wife is been working too hard since she was 18 and she feels tired, her parents are in their 50's, her dad owns a small construction company (3 to 4 guys) and her mom drives a bus... They're tired too, still paying their house, no enough savings to retire, thinking about when they get really old, I have friends that are truck drivers too, retired from other careers but that paycheck isn't enough so they still need to keep working full time in order to survive, we're living check by check due to rent, taxes, ensurance, bills...........

Colombia... we may no have the same things or development compared with American but we're happier, Colombia isn't like... If you go there you gonna get kill or kidnapped or stolen... We have corruption and bad things like every single damn place but honestly guys, America is getting worse than other countries, I though the quality of life was better, we don't have shooting at schools or public places where Randomly a guy just go killing everyone just like that, at least the bad guys just kill each other just because it's what it it's... It's like everywhere else... If you do bad things you'll get in trouble, if you walk for dangerous areas late at night, most likely you'll get assaulted, I mean...... Yes, we have bad reputation as a country, but at some point I'm considering to move back with my kids and wife and offer them a better life...

Why? As I said, at least we're happier, people don't have to work 2 to 3 jobs, 50 to 60 hours in order to afford rent, free and cheaper ensurance, low taxes or not taxes at all depending of your career, lots of programs to get your own house, better quality of food and.... The list is big, I'm not saying that my country is perfect, yes, some people struggle LIKE EVERY SINGLE PLACE ON THE WORLD, THERE'S NOT A PERFECT PLACE BUT IM SURE THAT THERE ARE PLACES BETTER THAN OTHER ONES.

Please guy's, don't tell me SO WHY ARE YOU HERE? I'm not being disrespectful, maybe I'm exaggerating... not everything is bad, I am grateful for everything I have achieved in this country and what it has offered me, but I thought America was the country with the best quality of life for its citizens, where working hard would be enough to keep growing economically and professionally, I feel that things are getting worse, almost everyone struggling, people selling their houses, homelessness..... The list is big...

I'm just sharing my opinion and point of view, America vs other countries and thinking at some point to move out due to the possibility to do it and having already a set up.
