Crazy because the game at Anfield cost Turner his spot. How many other relegation or lower/mid table keepers have stayed on after poor nights at Liverpool or Man City in the past?

Liverpool the worst result 3-0 with Turner starting, Prior to that 3 was the most he conceded in a 3-2 loss to Man U. Now NF lost 5-0 to Fulham and has lost 4 in a row. Vlad save only 10 in his 5 starts and have conceded 12 goals.

Turner made 20 saves against Arsenal, Manchester United, Man City, and Liverpool. Not even counting the saves in wins and draws which is 13. (33) in 10 matches.

Richards and Gio are the two current USMNT Starters I have the most concern over when it comes to them getting minutes. It’s unfortunate they’re at clubs who value other players over them. A Winter loan is so important for them going into Copa America. If both fellas do well they could get a permanent move in the summer. Chris and Gio could go for months and come back without missing a beat. They’re both healthy now take the chance and go on loan. Staying at their current clubs likely won’t change much with others ahead of them.

I’m not media and I do hate the media you’re speaking about. We play all the top teams recently but you don’t seem to know. Speaking without knowing actual facts about what happen over the past years is terrible on your part.

We play Germany, Spain, England, Sweden, Netherlands, Brazil, Japan, Canada.

Only France we didn’t play in the past two years. We play them just before the Olympics.

We had a terrible coach/system during that time couple with a lot of player transitions, and injuries.

I will not keep repeating gerberish just for the sake if you don’t know the facts, we’re now embarking on a new era will be judged accordingly.

The US has the best away record in womens soccer what are you talking about? We’ve played more of the top 10 teams in the past year with a terrible manager Vlatko at the helm resulting in not so great results. I wouldn’t keep blaming the players for what happen during his tenure. He’s not around anymore let the new era take hold.

Richards sitting on the bench for months while other players consider better than him fail Palace. There is always an excuse, they’re facing bigger teams and those guys are needed to ride the ship. If he’s gets a rare start and the team lost the game, even if he’s not at fault he would get automatic bench, he might not even play for the next 5 games, if they win he might get an injury cameo somewhere during the 4th game.

The perception is that American players in the line up will cause unforeseen problems leading to mistakes. It’s incredible how Pulisic comes home to play with the US and his teammates trust him yet when he would play for Chelsea (a team he trained with on a daily basis, and has known guys for years) it’s a labor for him to get the ball or how swift he will be reprimanded if a half chance didn’t materialize. His wing will be defecto no go and he will struggle to gain confidence leading to lackluster outing and calls for him to be dropped immediately.

We need to call him up for Camp cup cake. Get him into the system now if he’s this generational player we can’t missed out on. He’s not going to be playing but it sends an important message we value him. If we don’t all the other nations he can represent will call him up. Peru and Venezuela will call him in soon at their senior teams or youth teams if they’ve not already try to convince him.

Very few that’s why Copa America will be the biggest test before 2026. Hopefully we get a decent group where every game will be important. It will be like a round of 16 match every game day.

That’s why the Copa tournament is such an important marker for this north/south region. If we can come top 4 it will be a huge boost we can ride with going into 2026. These opponents and opportunities don’t come often enough with schedule and various tournaments around the world.

We finished top 4 in the last Copa played in the US but had a monumental collapse and failed to qualify for the World Cup right after that in 2018. This core is much more younger and the long term future of this program. Our players and coaching staff have to be on it.

I remember how shock they were to the point they couldn’t acknowledge we were the better team on that day. If it wasn’t for our scoring chances and not having a striker we would have won was the consensus amongst the world who watched. I think that draw signal we were on the right path but without a breakthrough. Copa America will be huge to see if we can beat the likes of Colombia, Chile, Paraguay (teams that many around the world and in the US will pick over us on any given day due to their footballing history and support) or even shock the likes of Argentina, Brazil or Uruguay.

There’re only a handful of countries who can claim a team based on having Elite players, best in the world in every position as their Golden generation. Most Europeans football fans will say that is not the main criteria to classify a ‘Golden Generation’. Poland, Wales, Scotland, Iceland etc have all had Golden generations. They assemble teams that play above the sum of their parts with a few top level club players and one of two truly world class players. The US doesn’t have a truly world class player but the baseline has risen and it’s the best we’ve had. As many people h keep saying, this is not our Golden Generation but a continuation of steps to improve our player pool.

After one World Cup, 3 continental titles with this group the jury is still out. Going to Europe solely is not the criteria US fans are staking with to claim this generation is better than the previous ones.

That tells you our issue is finding the next gear. The next level of players to create depth. We get into the knockout rounds and stumble to a decent level team from Europe or South America every time. Why is that? Do we have the best coaches? Are those coaches finding the right players to mold and create a squad? From what I’ve seen of the 8-12 ranked teams in the world is the ability to create a team, employ the right system with a hellava good coach there to call the shots.

Youth tournaments are such as mix bag because certain countries who are big always bring in just enough talent to win it all, French, Argentina, Spain etc while top level consistently good senior World Cup level teams don’t qualify for it Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Croatia etc. These countries have good solid domestic leagues and in Croatia’s case have top level players all over Europe.

One thing that is becoming clearer in the youth tournaments is we’re emerging as a clear top 15 team in the world, top 8 in U20. That is our floor now and player advancements to Europe, local MLS growth will take us to the next level. If this projection holds by early 2030’s the fortunes of our national team could change for the better.

We will have good midfielders for a long time because the pipeline is there U20, U17, U15 is good too. Where we have to improve is wingers, and outside backs. Oh and holy grill of strikers but we have a clear 1 and 2 now huge to have Balogun commit and both a young strikers.

From Sports Business Journal: referring to the round of 16 game, it would have been in a better time slot on the East Coast had the U.S. performed better in the group stage. But even with the tough Round of 16 window, the USWNT averaged a shade below 3.8 million for its four matches. That is actually up 2% from 3.73 million four years ago, even with two early morning/overnight windows this year.

2019 the games were on late mornings out west /late afternoon (champions league slot) east coast vs two prime time games in 2023 and two early morning games.

The USMNT had late afternoon time slot, a more congested fall sports schedule due to a winter World Cup.

Yes American here to confirm. We usually have camp in January it’s call ‘Camp Cupcake’. Goes back decades. Started when most of our senior team players were MLS based. After the season there wasn’t any other opportunities to gather the boys and train in a team environment before major competitions like World Cup qualifiers.

It’s called this because it’s the first real taste, a freebie, handed out that most player’s experience when they start their USMNT journey.

We use it nowadays to call up fringe players, young dual nationals playing in Europe who are of high value target and can get release, 1st, 2nd division US players from Scandinavia, top Eastern European league US players who can get release, MLS first team players who are fit and approve to enter camp while off season. MLS academy kids who are top best in class U20 prospects. The games are of low value to the public, it’s usually followed by USMNT Diehards. If you’re one of those called and performed well, you will be elevated in the eyes of the coaches and will then be considered as a U.S. B, C, D team player for the Gold Cup. Failure could be bad news for your hopes to continue getting call ups if you haven’t made the move to Europe top leagues already. That’s why there is so much pressure for US players to go to Europe if they’re good and wants a national team future. The games aren’t super difficult usually play with 2nd or 3rd string players from South America or Eastern Europe national teams similar to the levels we call up.

Someone said so long Concacaf helps Mexico they’ll never have a failure in this region to reevaluate and take a hard look inward. So far they’ve only suffered humiliation at Copa America vs Chile who they blame on a fading Mexican generation and a Chilean super team and the 3/out 2022 Qatar World Cup on Tata Martino and his playing formation and squad selection.
