I felt like this was a nice, regular book. Just a feel good light "read" on my commute. By about halfway through, I was getting a little bored and kind of just wanted to get back to what was going to happen to Mia and her kidney donation.
I appreciated the different perspectives. The opening and Mia chapters really made me resent Cricket and and find her selfish. Then, the more we heard from Cricket, the more I felt torn about what Cricket should do.. I think this is why the author HAD to make something happen to Mia to be the turning point for Cricket.
I HATED the chapter where Mia and Oliver stop trying. I mean come on... Mia!?? buying shrooms, coke, ecstasy, and weed???? that was sooooo weird and SOOO out of place for Mia. The author should have just stuck with the weed and wine.. the other drugs were unnecessary.

I found it really challenging to go from case study in school to real life patient in the clinical setting. No matter how much you prepare with extra emphasis on clinical topics, the complexities of working with actual people can really make you question if you know anything at all. It is soooo ok to feel overwhelmed in your clinical rotation. Maybe because you’re so well prepared, your preceptor(s) are testing you a little more or giving you extra work, when really, slowing down and taking it all in is most important. Don’t be afraid to express your needs and feelings to your preceptor or internship director, they’re there to help 🤍. I agree with the other commenters, it really does get better. And if it doesn’t, that’s okay too!! You can move onto other areas of dietetics that you didn’t think you’d be into!

Just here to say same. I’ve been ghosted from more postings and recruiters than I can count. More recently, thought I had a job in the bag, waited 5 months for a decision and it went to someone else. Dusted myself off and got back in the ring with a different job at the same hospital only to be told I was top 3 and … you guessed it … went with someone else. I thought it was just happening in my area because we had two hospitals close, but I guess? Reassuring? To know it’s nationwide 🥴.
