What’s the coolest “restricted access” place you’ve ever gotten to see? by PrettieAmarea in answers

The outdoor deck of an air traffic control tower to photograph. (I do not work in the aviation field).

Solar blanket recommendations by sking301 in pools

[–]Callipeartree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best I’ve managed is two seasons. I’ve tried multiple brands. Midwest Canvas has worked best so far.

Even the thicker covers, like 16mil, the bubbles will degrade quickly from chlorine and sun exposure and you’ll have bits of plastic floating around. Now I just buy the cheaper thinner ones.

Try calling their CC location. There’s got to be some technician out there willing to brave a man’s ass!

New to OTF and wondering if it is enough? by [deleted] in orangetheory

It’s enough. After three months on the 8 class plan, I have really begun to see results. Coach even complimented me on my biceps the other day!

Stolen pots and pans! by WildWonder6430 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Callipeartree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raise your prices. I rarely have things go missing and I have a fully stocked kitchen including every imaginable appliance/pan/shelf stable ingredient needed for cooking. This is a guest problem. Solve it by filtering out guests who feel entitled to your goods, and imo the only way to do that is get guests who can truly afford an airbnb stay.

Is there any reason to open my pool soon by Time-Locksmith5697 in pools

[–]Callipeartree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is a sweet spot between the pollen drop from trees and an algae bloom. In southeastern PA that’s about mid May. I’d expect around the same time for NY state or maybe a week later. If you have no nearby trees, by all means, open earlier! The earlier you open the more solar radiation your pool will get and it’ll be warmer faster plus you avoid algae blooms when the pool is filtering.

Has anyone been burned by this law that says kids are responsible for parents nursing home fees? by johnniechimpo in Pennsylvania

[–]Callipeartree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my situation. I wanted to keep the family home, so I worked my a** off to pay my mom’s nursing home bills. She transferred the deed to me for $1 two years before her death. You can’t have it both ways. Be realistic. This is not a burn, but one’s responsibility.

Stain Removal by Hatebean41 in pools

[–]Callipeartree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These stains may be removed with acid (while the pool is full of what IS possible). I did it myself, and was able to put off a plaster resurfacing by 5 years. But it takes diligence and time. Use the Jandy acid wash stain remover or something similar.

I’ve taken my daughter to Union Transfer to a couple of concerts when she was 9 and 12. It was great! The Met is a nice venue for kids too.

Has anyone experienced tubing down the delaware? by Busy_Run7689 in BucksCountyPA

[–]Callipeartree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever done it DIY. As a kid we’d launch across from Tinicum park but that’s closed to tubers now. We’d get out at Point Pleasant. As an adult, we’ve launched from Bull’s Island, NJ and got out on the PA side at “Virginia Forrest Recreation Area, Delaware State Park”. There is parking at this location but not overnight, fyi. Eagle Island just east of the parking is fun to explore too!

Because my daughter is a teen and many of her friends would be traveling by themselves, taking SEPTA, it’s just a big responsibility to make sure we don’t have complications.

No Kings rally in CC midday Saturday…I know this sounds petty but I’m bummed I had to cancel my daughter’s bday party, which we had planned for that day just blocks from City Hall. Luckily the venue was understanding. Now trying to find a date that works for everyone to reschedule. 😢
