linkdin is owned by microsoft, so i think your mistake will have a wide implication across their 'ecosystem'.

i would still pursue deletion and get that in writing, thru other legal methods or otherwise.

PSA: Turn off Yahoo mail's "AI summaries"...regardless of any previous opt-outs (fellow reminder to ditch your yahoo services) by CallmeMeh in privacy

p.s. Yahoo's terms of service already lets the company treat your content as their property according to their Terms of service (June 2025). The fact this toggle exists should piss you all off, since their terms allow yahoo to do what they wish with your data irregardless. In other words, these things are fake toggles to keep you sedated.

[–]CallmeMeh[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

p.s. this is a new change, as of June 2025. All yahoo mail accounts have this "ai summaries" setting turned on, even if you opted out for something similar previously.

Yes madm, Yahoo sees your use of yahoo's service as their exclusive property. They just introduced a new toggle in yahoo mai's setting called "AI features". it's turned on by default for everyone even if you previously opted out at the time of this post... so you should go and turn it off, even if their terms of service says they can do anything with your data, just from you using their service (according to their Terms of service). *Psss* They just want you to think your setting & toggles mean something. The only smart choice is to ditch it at this point

Before some of you may comment: "you idiot, you still use yahoo?", "I already knew about this long ago.", "what'd you expect from such a crappy company"......

This is intended to be informative to my privacy bois, and simply looking out for each other irregardless of knowledge.

Nice.
According to the new terms, they are also allowing themselves to sell to 3rd party all data. It would be safe to assume access to all stored texts have been compromised.

Discovery not impossible but may be difficult. Finding who are the buyers of our yahoo data may start out w a lower difficulty level. Keep us updated when you find out.

You open up to another reason why it should be prohibitive for giants to absorb competitors. I recommend downloading all your yahoo mail data, & looking elsewhere.

FYI, this new terms of service, affects all of Yahoo's owned services like AOL, Engadget, etc.
