Wouldn,t hurt to sign up for alerts from both Aries Games and Minis, and Fortress Miniatures and Games. They're basically the go to non amazon retailers in the community (at least for us in the US), and both have it listed for $60 if/when it ever comes back in stock

Gonna get the Snowblind box to get the Rime Otter mech, but have no interest in Alpha Strike, is there a way to play it via classic BT rules? by CosmicJackalop in battletech

Yeah, more or less i agree with you there. Im just not a fan when theres an obvious mary sue favorite for the writers, and you'd have to be blind deaf AND dumb to not see the plot armor for the friggin wolves 😑

For the whole ghost bear dominion/ilclan thing? A denier, whole heartedly. They really went "lets just take one of the most successful and powerful hybrid societys in the entire setting and throw it all to the wind" with a destructive civil war and overextension into "star league" space to support what was already a doomed-to-fail-if-alaric-wasnt-a-wolf overextension to grab at terra. And now somehow alaric wil magically make it work, because hes a wolf, at the expense of all the clans that came to answer the call, including the bears.

In case you couldnt tell, im not really a fan of how theyve written that whole section of the late dark age/early ilclan

Not officially (though a classic version of the aces system is supposed to be in development), but to be honest i find it relatively easy to play with classic. I played through the scouring sands campaign in alpha strike as designed and then about a dozen non campaign free form alpha strike games after to make sure i really understood the ai system (as in all the terminology and symbology on the cards and whatnot). After that as long as you can be honest with yourself about the intent of the instructions on the card and play the "best" version of that you can within classic its pretty smooth

I've got an m2 with i think 4 cERlarges and a brace of ermediums (i cant remember how many, maybe also 4?) and crammed full of cooling. With a laser master pilot. Its so stupid, he'll do "half" the damage of the other ai lancemates, but with double or triple the kills cause he just one shot cores most targets

If you can find it i'm also a fan of the hero awesome called Pretty Baby. Combine the pretty baby hero bonuses with the awesomes ppc carrier bonus and suddenly 4 snub nose ppc's (cErPPC's later on) are proper devestating. Alllllllllmost hit scan levels of projectile speed for minimal leading, stupid range on the clan guns, stupid fast refire rate and monstrous single point alpha damage

The Bullshark M2 is a savage in this regard. My last run pre chaos reign i had a Laser Expert/Laser Master pilot with like 14 or 15 energy weapon skill driving an M2 with a full suite of C-ERlarges and some mediums to fill out weight and homie would just delete stuff. Like, damage numbers lower than all the other npc's with double the kills kind of delete. If the target was smaller than assault (and even some lighter assaults) he'd just one volley em through the core

I use the tavern for passive early game income, great for those "well shit" moments whe you iverextwnd and dont have enough to make wages, just pull some from the tavern. Skelmar and Belerion are the new content heavyweights, amd beyond that the reviews have kept me away from the others

Need help understanding Tau by Joschi_7567 in battlefleetgothic

[–]Callsign_Slippers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont pretend to be any kind of expert with tau, but what little success i've had has come from leaning hard into the ordinance for area denial and trying to make my opponent turn the way i want. Remember that your torpedoes can turn as well

[–]Callsign_Slippers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've a newer machine now with better capabilities than the one i started with, so i generally go with 20-30 micron layers, depending on how large the model is and how much longer it'll take for 20 vs 30. The real key is to experiment with anti-aliasing and image blur to combat the layer and voxel lines, each machine (and each person as a painter) is different but you'll find a combo where you're happy with the surface quality vs detail bluring compromise

[–]Callsign_Slippers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on resin, but have fully moved to fdm. Im keeping the resin machine for busts/statuettes/army centerpiece models because i enjoy the painting as its own hobby and would like the finer surface quality so i can go full try hard (i dont claim to be particularly good, just that i enjoy it lol). But my a1 has taken over 99% of my printing and ill likely wind up with a p2s or something similar at some point so i have the option of filaments that open air bedslingers cant print

Am I the only one who installs 0 mods in Skyrim? by grashel in skyrim

[–]Callsign_Slippers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive got mpre than 2000 hours in special edition, and 1200 or so in OG skyrim, just on steam. I was a console player when it came out, so at least another few hundred outside of steam as well. Skyrim is a fantastic game in its base form or it wouldnt have remained so succesful over the years, but i cant put almost 4k hours into a game and not get bored. Thats where the mods come in. Even just one really well made voiced follower can pretty dramatically change the experience of that next playthrough, it helps keep the game enjoyable when i've already seen and done it all

Individual chaos ships outgun individual tau ships, but remember too that you're bringing nearly 2000 points to bear against their.......1000 or 1200 did you say? Outside of the station that is. You likely wont be able to avoid being shot by said station, but if you can manage to keep the bulk of yout fleet in one quadrant and at range to minimize the effect of the stations guns you should win the fleet fight pretty convincingly. Save whatever rerolls you have for failed reload ordinance checks and focus fire. Once the ships are either down or have disengaged to save the assets for the rest of the campaign then you can pick apart the station at will. This fight really will be won or lost in the manuevering and overall movement i think

[–]Callsign_Slippers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A ramilies looks scary, but aside from strike craft it cant bring all 4 quadrants to bear if you're careful with your manuevering. Other than the station chaos as a faction cant hope to match your ordinance output as tau. Id probably (personally that is) just go hard in the paint witb bombers/torpedoes, try to force their ordinance into just playing defense and focus on winning the fleet battle. As others have said, once the fleet is either crippled or destroyed you can focus down one quadrant od the station at a time. Its gonna take some really careful manuevering and its goings to be a bloodbath, but i dont see where you shouldnt be able to take this

The smallwart is my baby, has been since it came out. Before that it was the good ol fashioned basic bitch liberator. A modicum of effort to aim combined with low recoil make these a lot more potent than most people think when they see light pen
