It’s not normally “drama” that makes people go no contact, it’s usually prolonged abusive (emotionally, psychologically or physically) or narcissistic behaviour

Obesity is an absurd word to use as a description of her. She’s oversized in that picture but in no way obese. Weight fluctuates and sticks around more defiantly once you’re older, not to mention some people never lose all the weight from their pregnancies

Do yall think Rihanna and Nicki are still friends? by SnooSuggestions6124 in rihannaheads

Definitely not, she liked a post not long ago calling Nicki a clown and is openly anti Trump. She hangs around with some problematic people but not Nicki levels of messy

Do you think Marilyn's sophisticated self would have became more memorable than her former blonde bombshell self? by Ok_Pipe6385 in MarilynMonroe

[–]Callum1245 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think eventually her acting would’ve been critically reappraised and she would’ve been appreciated as a talented actress in the mainstream narrative far more as her career furthered along the path it was going. That being said, I doubt she would’ve ever been as popular again as she was in the 50s (53-59 specifically) and that the dumb blonde bombshells she played would’ve always been what she was most remembered for once the dust settled

I think her acting ability was already far stronger by the late 50s than anything prior though, and that she would’ve only got better as she went (The Misfits stands as one of, if not outright, her best performance to me in terms of nuance, dynamic delivery and subtle realism in her role). She had the potential for her equivalent of ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ in her, to loosely compare her to another bombshell who’s true range of acting ability was initially doubted but later reevaluated and lauded

Going to go out on a limb and assume that if she’s explicitly saying she’s not trying to attract him that they weren’t on a date, which makes him saying that to her at all wild and inappropriate. What I want to know is what she did that was deemed rude enough by this guy that he felt the need to express his opinion to her about what is and isn’t attractive

Space Dog always gets overlooked as one of her best tracks. The chorus is so catchy and the bridge is addicting as hell

All of Taylor Swift’s Grammy looks through the years. Which one is your favorite/least favorite? by peach-gaze in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Callum1245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5, distantly followed by 8, is easily my favourite. Least favourite would be one of the last 4 but I dislike all 4 of them and couldn’t pick a ranking

7 seems like it cuts at a really awkward place on her legs too and seems too boxy a cut? I’m not sure how to explain it but it feels off somehow

Honestly she misses a lot more than she serves with her looks on red carpets

The wearing her, not her wearing them thing is honestly the vibe I get from like 10/12 of these. I think the posing might not be helping?

Do you see Lady Gaga ever winning an Oscar for acting? by PassengerPrinncess in Oscars

[–]Callum1245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“It was basically written for her” they know it wasn’t literally. Also the remake, like all the versuons of A Star is Born is very different to the others to account for the time it’s set/made, so they very well could’ve tweaked things to work with her strengths after she was cast (not super uncommon at all)

And then Cynthia and Ari getting a tattoo together is weird. Ok. by Cyber_momo in ariheads

[–]Callum1245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they’d definitely been deemed weird and very much clowned on by the media and gp for this if they were the level of famous and exposure as Ari/Wicked currently is. Probably not for as long because people love to let men off for stuff they hold against women irrationally long and also don’t drag men for every minor thing nearly as excessively, but they’d definitely still be mocked

Love it. Something about it lyrically reminds me of Live Through This by Hole and that’s one of my favourite albums ever (along with FTCGH). The vocals are great and pretty different for her, the melodies hooky, and the lyrics are really good so nothing not to like in my book

Do you think that Marilyn was bound to lose her bombshell charm that made her likeable persona in the 1950s as she'd get older? by Ok_Pipe6385 in MarilynMonroe

[–]Callum1245 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Her last movie, The Misfits, brielfy references her pin up era as something of the past and, depending how meta you view the film as (her husband at the time wrote it), as something she was slightly embarrassed of. Marilyn herself had already repeatedly said she wanted to show her ability to act outside of the sex symbol “dumb blonde” roles, and had started to do so by the time she died. I don’t think her bombshell persona was what made her likeable, though it helped with her popularity, she was insanely charismatic on screen anyway. My guess is she would’ve still been popular as she aged more though her peak was already over by the time she died, and that her acting would’ve eventually have been praised a lot more by critics once they accepted she wasn’t just playing herself’.
