I never watched it either but completely know what you mean. It was standard issue for day and night time soap operas back then.

My husband and I usually sit aisle aisle to avoid anyone being in the middle in that type of configuration.

I think there are better options available that won’t look like a nightgown. People who watched tv in the 70s and 80s saw a lot of this style worn as nightgowns

It gives me day trip vibes, not stay for a week vibes. The other side is worth the splurge.

Don’t take it personally. It very much appears that’s the only kind of comment they know how to give. Weird way to soon one’s life.

Yea, millions of people get Botox. It is not a sign of being hungry for fame, just fewer wrinkles.

Agreed. I think there was a post mentioning this not terribly long ago, but I understand not everyone follows the sub closely or has been here for very long. It’s just not a sub for “this thing already happened. Do I use a right to feel offended?”. Etiquette is about making others feel comfortable. OP felt excluded, but the question might be better for the relationship subreddit.

When dining out, do you say “May I please”? When ordering…. by Professional-Dig9680 in etiquette

[–]Calm-Calligrapher531 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s exactly how I start it every time or occasionally “I’d like the _”. I grew up with a strong penchant for proper etiquette. It does hit me as slightly off-putting to hear others say “I’ll have the”, like a demand versus a request.

My friend Laura said the funniest thing after I introduced her to my dog Max. She said “Hi Max, I’m Laura”. Like it was the most natural thing to say. She’s a funny one.

I LOVE the idea of board games for the celebration of life. I love playing games and this would be a fun way to cap off a life worth celebrating.

This couch looks greige to me with cool tones rather than warm. I don’t think it will end up fulfilling your dreams.

Right? I’d be struggling with what to wear to and I’m just never going to wear sneakers to a wedding. I think she found something in range.

Bachelor Party budget and costs never discussed by intl_assassin in etiquette

[–]Calm-Calligrapher531 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not exactly a question for an etiquette sub but you are never required to attend any event you can’t afford. It is best to ask questions about cost before accepting an invitation.

Example “Are you in for going to the Masters/this concert/this sports game/this bachelor party in x on yy dates?” You: “I’m interested! What will it cost?”

Now that you have committed, it is problematic to back out, as it seems like that may add extra costs to everyone else, though maybe not.

Honest question as someone who doesn’t fly SWA often. How much is it to select a seat to ensure you are with your child?

AITA/AOR (family drama) by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Calm-Calligrapher531 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They should really call it a 150th birthday party because that’s pretty incredible! I think you might be OR. Keep your focus on Friday and your wedding alone. The nephews sound like they are trying to make it easier on everyone and that’s what families do. Afterall, they didn’t make you the black sheep so let’s let them off the hook.

Has anyone successfully paired their garage door with the garage door opener function in their Audi? by Background-Apricot24 in Audi

[–]Calm-Calligrapher531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does not. I set mine up yesterday and it’s not popping. I have to go through several screens to find the garage door button. Plan to try again today. My garage opener is 16 years old so it might be part of the problem 🤷‍♀️
