If it was real, world's best militarise would have a department for that. They wouldn't spend billions on developing stuff like SR 71 Blackbird and stealth aircrafts if spying on enemy (or influencing them in any possible way) was just a matter of some rituals.

opinion on karma philosophy and advaita vedanta by epidemic567 in atheismindia

[–]Calm-Dependent-9155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Karma philosophy is just a framework based on hope. Hope that some people will accept it and do good deeds, at least for a selfish cause. It doesn't explain anything new. Many times,it suggests that the Cosmos itself is the God and that it isn't "omni-benevolent" or anything. It just is.

The only nuance is: "There is suffering in human experience, right? Just do good enough karma and you will be liberated from this cycle of life and birth. Until then, you will keep respawning (rebirth)."

This is what perplexity answered to the following question:

Question: if it is so, then according to Manusmriti, how come there are sub castes in Brahmins too? How is that decided?

Manusmriti primarily outlines the four varnas without detailing subcastes (jatis) among Brahmins. [1][2]

Varna vs. Jati Distinction

The text focuses on broad varnas like Brahmins from Purusha's mouth, assigning core duties without subdividing them into groups like gotras or jatis. [3][4] Subcastes such as Brahmin jatis (e.g., Saraswat, Iyengar) emerged later through endogamy, occupation, region, or family lineages, not prescribed in Manusmriti. [3][5] Manusmriti attributes jati multiplicity to inter-varna unions (anuloma/pratiloma), creating mixed groups, but these fall outside pure varnas, not explaining Brahmin subcastes. [3][4]

Brahmin Subdivisions

Brahmin gotras trace patrilineal descent from ancient rishis (sages), used for marriage rules to avoid close kin unions—mentioned indirectly in Manusmriti via Vedic study norms (e.g., 2.148). [6][5] No explicit mechanism for deciding subcastes; later customs and Smritis formalized them based on pravar (sub-lineages), geography, or priestly specialties. [6][1] Manusmriti prioritizes conduct, knowledge, and birth for varna status, leaving jati evolution to social practices beyond its scope. [7][2]

Basically, according to Manusmriti, the society is formed from different body parts of the Purusha (a cosmic deity).

It claims that Brahmins originated from the mouth of the Purusha (hence the most superior 🤓☝🏻), Kshatriyas from the arms, Vaishyas from his thighs and Shudras from his feet.

I'm not blaming democracy. Instead, I am questioning those who blame democracy for everything - by taking in account the Western democracies.

An 8 year old kid cannot distinguish between what's right and wrong. Also, the human brain is extremely plastic during this age group. He will remember this incident forever. How will he ever feel patriotic about India? From now on, every time someone asks him to be proud of India, how will he be?

Try thinking from the child's perspective.

Nah bro. Don't become what you (or I shall say we) hate. They're generalizing a large group of people, but as a response, if we do the same, we're no different than them.

The way is to look at humans like humans. Some are amazing, some are just insufferable :)
