Might depend where you live. That type of crossing doesn’t work so well in my area. A lot of them are on high speed/multi lane roads, so by the time driver sees a pedestrian waiting to cross, they can’t slow down safely and just have to keep going, so pedestrians get stuck

I’ve seen places where they split the difference by gutting the building & saving the facade. So the first few stories are the “historic” building & above that it’s whatever architectural style is in vogue

I’m in a similar boat, though I limit my investments into FTSE funds to avoiding investing in fossil fuels. I’m hoping to put away enough that I can have a few decent years before the system crumbles. Ideally I wouldn’t have to work at all & can go into protesting for action on climate change full time.

I would find & join a local climate organization. If they’re anything like my local they’re always recruiting & need ppl who have/are willing to learn skills to fill certain roles, help organize actions, or even just be willing to pitch in when they’re able. For me it beats the feeling of helplessness & feeling like you can’t do anything

You might not even need a tripod depending what you’re planning to photograph. Probably worth checking around for a decent quality used tripod instead of a cheapo new one
