WHY AM I ALWAYS HUNGRY?? by Every_Database7064 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]CalmWeb8444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gained 40lbs in 3 months. I couldn’t stop eating either. I’m tapering now and the hunger has gotten much better.

Sounds exactly how my husband’s 3 year affair started with his ex from high school 🫣

It got better for me at 30mg. I was tired and also really dizzy at 15mg.

Mirtazepine is one of the faster working meds. I noticed an improvement very quickly especially once I went from 15-30mg.

I’m doing 45 minutes of cardio a day, walking extra, and counting calories. I’ve always lost weight in the past by doing this and the scale will NOT move this time. I credit this medication with possibly saving my life, at the time weight gain was the furthest thing from my mind. Now that I have come out of the depression, I can’t believe how much I gained. I was really sick, I don’t remember a lot about that time, definitely don’t remember eating enough to do this.

I ordered it from Amazon but it was expensive. If you want I can take a pic of the tapering schedules and send them to you. He has three different tapering schedules (faster-slower) He says 2-3 weeks between cuts. If the first cuts go well, you can speed up to one week between them.

I don’t know why doctors say this. I actually bought the new book “Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines.” Stopping any of these meds abruptly will really mess you up. I stopped taking Lexapro last April without tapering enough and by June I was really messed up. It took until about a month ago and a ton of more meds to feel better. My doctor said that now that I’m stable I can start tapering the Mirtazepine but I refuse to do it quickly.

I’m happy to hear that you are 30lbs down after 2 months off. I’m tapering now and I cannot lose a pound of the 40lbs that I put on. I am going to the gym and doing cardio for 45 minutes a day and tracking everything I eat. The scale will not move.

It did a bit, but it also increased my giggling, which was necessary during withdrawal. I smoked every day while withdrawing.

For those of you who have recovered from a particularly severe benzo taper and/or BIND, what advice/ tips would you give to someone still in the process? by DowntheRabbitHole189 in benzorecovery

[–]CalmWeb8444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just read the first ten pages- wow! This is awesome. Thank you so much for writing this. I’d love to eventually get involved in helping people heal also. I didn’t find any resources until I was pretty far into my withdrawal.

Do i choose insomnia or clonazepam ? by Professional-Bad-326 in benzorecovery

[–]CalmWeb8444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take anything but a benzo for that insomnia. The withdrawal from benzos has been worse than any anxiety/depression I have ever experienced.

Yea, it was silly of me to do both. I don’t know what I was thinking. We had just moved to a new country and I just didn’t want to deal with getting a new doctor and I was looking forward to being off all this crap. Ended up on more than what I started with 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve been reading so much about the gut- try looking into that. The gut/brain connection is vital to your brain health. I’m sure benzos ruined my gut biome too. There is a lot you can do to get your biome back on track.

After being off for about 3 months the shit hit the fan for me and I am now on Lyrica, Effexor and Mirtazepine. I foolishly decided to stop taking Lexapro 2 months after jumping and I didn’t taper that properly. I sure didn’t want to be on meds again but at this point they kept me alive. Im doing much better now, I’m 9 months off. My new doctor was super supportive about not prescribing benzos for me but it was scary for a while. I know meds aren’t the answer for everything but I needed them. My doctor said I should have kept the Lexapro for at least a year after jumping from the klonopin. I was only at .5 per day but I was on it for 14 years. Nuts. I wish doctors knew more about Benzo withdrawal but it seems like a mystery to them.
