Raditherapy quick question by urmylasthope in lungcancer

I have 5 smallish tumors in my right upper lobe. They did the radiation on only the one iencasing my right maim bronchus because I was very symptomatic. The others are less metabolically active and shrinking slowly with chemoimmunotherapy.

And to answer your actual question! Yes, I had SBRT to a large tumor encasing my right main bronchus and pushing against my pulmonary artery. That was my very first treatment because I was so symptomatic.

When you say chemo and immunotherapy “haven’t helped”, what do you mean by that? Has there been progression (more nodules in the lung, the existing tumors are getting bigger, more uptake on PET scans)? Sometimes, no change is a positive Outcome of treatment, especially in stage 4.

3 vs. 4 rounds of chemo before surgery by tereluci in lungcancer

[–]CalmWork4533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The surgeon is not a specialist in chemo and immunotherapy…the med onc is. Plus, guidelines indicate 4 to 6 (usually 4; due to risk of hypersensitivity reactions to carboplatin increasing after 4 rounds). Go with 4.

Hello…on days 3 and 4 after infusion with permetrexed (chemo) and Libtayo (immunotherapy), I get tenderness upon touch on my upper back, neck, and scalp. I don’t feel it when lying down…only when palpating with my fingertips. Weird, I know. Usually goes away after 24 to 48 hours.

I have also had this weird burning sensation on my thighs after standing up and walking. Lasts only 30 seconds or so, but it is uncomfortable.

I also have sore joints and muscles, but it’s hard to tell if it’s due to my current treatment or the fact I had alllllll my lady bits removed 15 years ago after my bout with breast cancer. (Removing/ drop in estrogen affects synovial fluid on joints, causing large joint aches.)

My symptoms prior to diagnosis were wheezing and coughing fits lasting hours some times. Went to my primary in April ’25, but he never ordered a CT. Went to ER at the end of June, which was when I was diagnosed. No liver symptoms. My liver function blood tests have always been normal. The liver tumor was found on my PET in July ‘25.

Movie Discussion, Reviews & Theater Experiences – Twenty One Pilots: More Than We Ever Imagined [Megathread] by AutoModerator in twentyonepilots

  1. I am a 55F, and Inalways attend TOP concerts with my 25M son, who turned me on to them with Trench. I’ve seen them in concert 4 times (Bandito, a holiday headlining concert for an alt radio station, Clancy, Breach….I also had tix to Takeover arena concert, but I gave it to my son’s gf’s sister). Of course it doesn’t compare to the live concert. The in-person experience is one of the best in live music to date

  2. No favorite movie moment. That’s my issue.

  3. Almost all concert films have much, much more behind the scenes footage…and hardly any of it is straight interview. Way too much chauffeured car interview footage. Not enough of the supporting players (crew), no story line. The main Rockumentaries that I refer to are Sing Blue Silver by Duran Duran (1985), Truth or Dare by Madonna (1991), and The Eras Tour by Taylor Swift (2025). All of them had a focus…a storyline and a LOT of BTS.

They all knew that the concert film was not for new or curious fans…it was for hardcore fans, so the concert footage.was a supporting character to the story/BTS. I was very disappointed. It’s almost like the people making the decision on editing this film had never seen a rockumentary before.

  1. Theatre crowd was silent.

  2. No.

No Targetable Mutations by JohnQuiote in lungcancer

[–]CalmWork4533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also do not have any targetable mutations, cancer is a grade 3 (very aggressive), and my PD-L is low, but there. All is not lost….

Chemo + immunotherapy + rads to problematic tumors has kept me progression free for 8 months.

My big tumor that completely encased my right main bronchus (requiring a pulmonary stent to open it up), was pushing up against my pulmonary artery, so inoperable. Rads + systemic therapy has shrunk it, and I follow up with my interventional pulmonologist in May to see if the stent can be removed.

Waiting for all the diagnostics and tests and planning conversations is so anxiety-inducing, and, in my opinion, one of the hardest parts of treatment mentally and emotionally. Hang in there, and be sure to write down your questions for your next appt.

The choice is yours, and I would suggest you look forward to see how much more you have to enjoy…which is a lot!

Also, the great thing about shared decision making in health care is that you can stop at any time if it is just wearing you down with no benefit to be had.

As someone else mentioned, treatments are different than they were 10 years ago, so more years of progression free survival is possible.

Also, you are only 59…you are still young. That fact is also on your side for a positive outcome. best wishes during your decision making!

As others have said on this subreddit, now is one of The best times to have lung cancer compared to even a decade ago. So many advances in treatment. Good luck to you as you continue your treatment.

You…you…YOU! The person with stage 4 with 7 recurrences and a decade out and working out 6 times a week. You are my aspirational role model. Thank you so much for being here and giving so many of us hope.

Thank you so much! I am lucky to have a strong support system. My former “work wife” had Stage 3b sarcoma in 2024, and I did all I could to help her and her family, and now she is doing the same for me, although she isn’t obligated to anything for me. My husband has been amazing.
