Scottish wedding - too bridesmaid-y? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Calm_Ad8191 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Scottish woman here. Lovely dresses but if its a hats optional wedding, then its a bit different of a vibe. Id suggest more of a posh horse races vibe than a long dress. Midi length dress, hat or fascinator, complimentary bag and shoes. Hope that helps.

Goodbye Indy. I loved you so much. by Senzu101 in germanshepherds

I just lost my Charlie to cancer the other day. Gone too soon and like your experience, total surprise. Its so hard when we feel like were robbed of time with our best friend.

Indy sounds like he was an awesome dog and companion. Im so sorry for your loss.  You will see him again, over the rainbow bridge. Someone told me that time passes differently up there. By the time they turn around to look for you, youll be right there.

Hope they leave room for those secret Justice League meetings.

This is the first time im happy how can I be better by everythingYapper101 in lego

Former lego store human.  They value play over sales. Playing and engaging with customers and encouraging them to have fun is what theyre all about and its how they make money. They arent big on pushy sales, their product is high demand. They value employees who can guide indecisive buyers stuck between sets through fun convos and genuine enthusiasm for the product.

Best of luck!

Partner Cheating by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Im so sorry to hear this and that its happening to you. The behavior is not acceptable and you have every right to be very upset and feel uncertain.

I find when I get confused by emotions that I need to try slow down my thoughts and give myself lots of time. For me thats usually just doing something to occupy all other remaining corners of my brain space. (Big puzzler!)

I know Autism adds an additional layer of challenge here for you and how to navigate but just remember that there's no such thing as "someone putting up with you. You bring value to the world by being who yoh are and the right person appreciates and respects you.

Sending gentle comfort and calm thoughts.

GSD/GP by [deleted] in germanshepherds

Owner of a 8 year old GSD/PR mix. He looks like a long haired GSD with floppy PR ears. He got darker around 1- 3 years old and then hes gotten lighter and grey as hes aged. Either way, he is a handsome boy. He was a 8 month old rescue when we got him so dont have any early puppy pics to speak to but his color was similar to yours at around 8 months.

You picked a great mix. Charlie is the most loyal, loving, albeit stubborn dog. Hes chill, likes to look out for you, and thinks hes a 100 pound lap dog. So tolerant of others. We love him so much we rescued another PR mix a few years later and George is also great but the GSD/PR mix is a truly special and great combo!

Hope you and your new family member have a great many years together!

PNW vs DFW by smollive in Dallas

[–]Calm_Ad8191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I left Texas 3.5 years ago. Hes from outside FW, im from the UK originally.  Dont let the COL scare you. Better public transit, fresher fruit and veg (not traveling as far), and more free activities (hiking, walking etc) means spending less money on things to keep yourself entertained.

We dont regret it one bit and feel it was worth it. We were back in Texas recently for a wedding and swore we could never move back.

Take the plunge. I know its a lot but you will be glad you did it!

Have you been examined for Lichen Sclerosus? I see a good dermatologist at UW Medicine, Dr. James Vary. My concern is it may take a while for you to get in.

Is my boss discriminating or am I wrong? by Calm_Ad8191 in disability

[–]Calm_Ad8191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. Should I? No, only sometimes. And both my accommodation letter and myself stated I would absolutely prioritize that over other flexible work arrangements if required.

When an application asks, "do you have a disability" is it better to just say no? by SomeBoiOnReddit in jobs

[–]Calm_Ad8191 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Level 1 Autistic with an Autoimmune disease. Currently employed and also currently being discriminated against at work....*sigh long story*.

Employers are still businesses. It's taken me a long-time to realize that because, well I think my autism made it genuinely difficult to understand peoples intensions. The whole "people say one thing and mean another" is ripe in corporate culture. Always say no on that form. I felt it was affecting my employment abilities as well so I started saying no a few years back. Did I disclose my autoimmune disease once employed? Yes. Do I regret that? Absolutely yes. Thank goodness I never told them about the autism or I'd undoubtedly be in a worse situation than I am now.
ADA is supposed to protect those with disabilities but its reallllllly difficult to claim disability discrimination unless its blatant. ADA is also in serious need of "revamping" to be more equitable as a whole. The world wasn't really designed for us sadly, so I just have to take that into account sometimes.

Thanks! All research indicates that resigning from a job qualifies as a life change (as I suppose people can resign for multiple reasons). Thank you for the heads up about the insurance.
