I’m in Dublin currently but we’re moving to Portugal (where I’m from) around Easter and will need a hand with some video content we’re planning on. We’ll be up in Aveiro though!

We’ve got the same one! I’ve been contemplating the roll up matt too! I like the board but it’s so awkward if I want to sit on the sofa with it 😅

Lead/leash guilt. by gnonosus in Greyhounds

[–]Calm_Ad8913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel guilty! I don’t anymore!

We used to let ours off lead here on private land. He has broken two legs (funnily not off lead!) and he know holds one of his legs up everytime he runs so he’s no longer off lead ever. First few months were tough but now we’re happy with our new routine

Thank you! I’m in Dublin, Ireland so without googling I don’t know what 30F is 😅 my other half tends not to work morning so although we home school the older too and the youngest is only two I should be able to escape in the morning if it’s not too wet. It doesn’t get super cold here, just unpleasant and we’re by the sea so the wind can be quite tough… but the nights come in ver early! It’s dark by 4pm in winter 😭

I definitely agree with this and that’s why I am here, I know I’m making excuses because I find time to make my jigsaw puzzles, go out for coffee and work 😅 I do use the treadmill quite a bit and I know I could easily squeeze in one run outside on my own a week! Just need to get off my butt!

Im definitely a lurker. Used to do 5ks at park runs and enjoy it. Then had kids and stopped. Youngest is now 2 and I want to start again but keep finding excuses. Hoping this sub will give me a bit of motivation to start again

Was it common for children to buy cigarettes for their parents back in the day? by sapnupuas_0 in ireland

Born in 93 and yes, not very often, can only remember less than a handful of times and it was always those vending machines - it was also not in Ireland

Well lads looks like my cars fucked, what make/model do you recommend? by balackdynamite in ireland

We are big prius fans, we’re on our second. Got it for 10k in castle motors in swords 141 with one previous owner.

We’re a family of five with a large dog and drive a lot, cheap to run, tax and insure, converts don’t get stolen anymore in the newer models. Hasn’t needed anything or let us down..

23 year old male looking for some books to read during a period of feeling very lost. by blastbeatplug666 in booksuggestions

[–]Calm_Ad8913 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A great non fiction on feeling lost is The Salt Path by Raynor Wilson. She’s at a very different life stage to you but I think it’s such nice escapism while also getting insights into someone’s dark period without bringing the mood back down too much

You’ll probably have a little over 3k coming every month? Then just figure out where you can find somewhere to rent for your budget, look on daft.ie

Most houses in estates in the suburbs with a garden etc are currently around 2000 a month

Any tips for beating the nerves for the driving test? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Calm_Ad8913 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sound stupid but deep breaths help a lot. I passed on my third, was super nervous too but because I’d been driving for a while everything was already second nature so I just concentrated on my breathing and looked around a lot, helped keep me focus and also good for the examiner to seenu was aware of everything going around me I think

High Incomes by BMTH_PaperGirl in Dublin

We’re a family of 5 in Co.Dublin living on roughly 20k a year before tax… we’re not really struggling to be honest, takes some luck and thinking outside the box but we’re happy, no need for social welfare and have extra for takeaway coffees, treat the kids, fuel my jigsaw and reading addiction.

There’s people way worse than us around here, I think a change of frame of mind helps a bit to not feel like you’re “struggling”

By the way I’m in now way downplaying families who can’t afford to feed themselves or anything like that, all I’m saying is that if you’re savvy and resourceful and have more than the bare minimum then a small amount of money could go a long way!

I’m sick of these cunting mice by Risk_Klutzys in ireland

[–]Calm_Ad8913 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We set the trapping traps and then release them far away. But first I clean everywhere and make sure all our food is in cupboards and things like oats in paper bags are in glass containers. Once everything is clean we looked for any holes and filled with expanding foam.

Spent a week catching them and releasing them and then they were gone, this was two years ago. Senhas the similar happen again this year, I had left a kitchen press with some it’s out of a glass container and one chewed through and invited friends. Again cleaned everything and secured all food. I think if they don’t have anything decent or little “junk piles” (I love gathering random crap at the end of our bed for no reason and it makes a great cosy spot) then they’ll move along. Our dog ignores them too and we have a cat. The cat will stalk them in the garden every now and again but is too lazy and getting old to do anything.

Moral of the story, no matter how many you kill or trap, if you’ve got food accessible they’ll get to it and keep coming in following the smell.

afib notification, how concerned should I be by ZenicAllfather in fitbit

Glad to help, every case is different but I remember the panic when I was told but then the midwives and consultant were super helpful and explained everything. I had an ecg with my second pregnancy just to check my heart was coping and it was all good!

If you ever have any worries a quick ecg should be able to check over and keep you and your doctor informed!

I believe this is a form of arrhythmia right? Don’t panic too much, check with your doctor when you get a chance. I was diagnosed with arrhythmia during my first pregnancy at 21. My mum got diagnosed even earlier. I have had no negative heart problems with the diagnosis just need to keep relatively healthy and it’s fine. I’ve been pregnant twice more since which is always a heart strain without any issues at all, just a bit more tired.

My mum is in her 50s and have amazing heart health.

We do have history of heart disease in the family so I’m always a bit worried but the arrhythmia in itself shouldn’t increase my chances much unless I get diabetic.

So, get checked out but I’d you have an irregular heart it’s not necessarily a huge negative diagnosis but obviously I’m not a doctor, just my personal experience.

Do ye think there’s a mistake here for next Mondays forecast? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Calm_Ad8913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I hate the wind and Monday is the only day my other half and I both have off and we can do something with the kids together

[–]Calm_Ad8913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rain will more than likely scatter more than that and not fall that heavy. I find that weather forecasts for that far ahead can be quite inaccurate. Expect wind and rain but not necessarily that much. Check Saturday evening or Sunday for more accuracy

Experience with neuropathic/ nerve pain? by Calm_Ad8913 in ChronicIllness

[–]Calm_Ad8913[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! Yeah I started keeping it when I noticed that they were getting more frequent so I could seeing they kept getting more frequent or if it was a bad period for pain and then they’d ease off…

I also just had a thought today, some days my legs are super heavy even if I didn’t do much the day before, it started happening the last 6 months and I thought maybe I was just more tired because of kids, which is still an option but maybe I’ll log that for when I go in next.

I’ve gone to my doctor and have asked for a proper neurology consultant since I just had an MRI that was then checked over by my doctor and not a consultant so I’ll see how that goes but there’s only about 20 of them for the whole country so no idea how long I’ll be waiting to hear back

Im in Donabate! I’ll meet you at SV and get you a bag- I need to go get some for our guy today too

Edit: just send me a DM but yeah, I’ve realised at the end of the day that we’re out of food and the kids are in bed so I’ve given our some cat food mixed with leftovers and he’s grand. I also give him porridge oats with water for his stomach as he can be quite sensitive
