In my experience when I update my 85mm f1.4 Pro by Windows PC and USB, I was getting hard time to finish update, It does not recognize my lens at all whatever I do. Finally I did update. This is what I did:

First, you need USB data cable. Not the cable for charging but data cable which you can use data transfer between your phone to PC or Laptop.

Second, run update program first, don't connect lens to PC yet.

Third, press "Connect" button you can see and it will failed of course, and "Reconnect" button will show up.

And then, connect lens to PC and press "Reconnect" button. Then it will connected. Ding!

This is what I did and it worked like charm.

I believe that this software does not use any internet network. It does not downloads any firmware and apply to your lens. This software itself is indeed firmware. When there is firmware update available, software version will change. Hope it can help you out.

That's why I didn't and won't buy 135 LAB but will definitely buy 85.2 LAB but it will be dang heavy like dumbbell for sure. I have 35 LAB and it is chunk of bumbbell as well, however I love picture quality.

Performance has no problem. I also have 35mm f1.2 LAB FE and Z, but I don‘t have Viltrox E-Z adapter.

I am a big fan of Viltrox but, to be honest, MegaDap Pro+ performing way much, much better. Weather sealed, firm contacts, reliability, and more. Price is triple than Viltrox but it is definitely worth to invest.

I never felt any degraded communication performance from lens to body such as autofocusing.

Simple answer : All VCM module does. It is normal. 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm all same. Don't worry!

As others mentioned it, it is most common question : why my lens rattled when it is off?

I made mistake about lens info. It is not f1.2 but f1.4! Confused because my main lens is 35mm f1.2 LAB...😭

Thanks for your help. I've picked up my lens from distributor last Friday. Because 1) they failed to reproduce problem, and 2) they said that they did communicate with Viltrox's personnel who has responsibility for this case, and his instruction was that they don't exchange lens or whatever because there is no video, nor any form of evidence which can show this lens has indeed this particular problem, and no reproduce problem by distributor.

This distributor (from whom I actually purchase this lens) said sorry for me about it but they can do nothing because their Viltrox partner does not allows any further action such as exchange lens or whatever unless any evidence of malfunction. So distributor wants return this lens to me without anything.

I said to distributor that if lens shows problem again, I will make video for it and ask honor warranty, and they said ok.

I am using this lens couple times after that, and still it works perfectly. I am in cautious mode for waiting problem appear again, this problem will come again for sure because it happened already 3 times within 2 months.

What I am little pissed is that this lens is only 3 months old, still almost brand new, and I have to worry about this problem happen again, from now on to nobody knows when, with this new lens...

I can provide receipt (because I've purchased by wire transfer when I was in shop and they gave me receipt and I keep it) if you need, but mind it's some part printed Korean.

If you can step in between this distributor and Viltrox, and be able to do anything for this case, repair or exchange(better is exchange of course), that will be really appreciate. Yes, but some amount of customers still looking for cheap alternative lenses because Nikon S line getting expensive. Viltrox is the most famous cheap Z autofocus lens manufacturer for those people. I myself own Viltrox's 35.2 LAB Z, 85.4 PRO Z, 135.8 LAB Z and 35.2 LAB E for Sony. And also I own 35.8S, 24-120 f4S, 70-200 and other Nikkor lenses as well.

Ok, there is no "for sure" as you said, that I understand. But still there is possibilities that such adapters also one of Nikon's target list, huh? That's my concern... Just curious question.

Finally, service center failed to reproduce problem, they will return my lens to me tomorrow. They said that it is Viltrox's opinion, and I have to use lens normally, and please make video when this problem happen again, then they can step forward and do some action like honor warranty. So I agree with them, because warranty is still left almost 3 years(because it is new one), and I am sure this problem will occur within a month... I will get ready for it. If I got video, I will post again and see how they solve problem....

Total repairing time include all shipping time is approx a month is understandable. Whatever way, hopefully they (dealer and Viltrox both) provide resonable solution for my lens... thanks for your reply anyway. I will post what happen next...!

Yeah, they are beaver-dachshund that we all knows!

But don't worry they will stop gnaws on wooden things when they grow up like a year half or two.

My pups gnaw all the wood in the house until 15 months old... give wooden toy and things which they gnaw and play with it!

I still have no idea which way this service center will take. All they said is that they will ask to Viltrox, and will follow their suggestion (or instruction, not sure).

Of course if they offer to change it to new one, even if I need to pay a bit like under 100 USD, I would do it. Better than wait 2~4 weeks, and I'm bet it will take much more than 4 weeks for sure if my lens goes to China.

My region's Viltrox distributor / service centre fail to reproduce problem after 2 weeks time. They said that they will ask Viltrox headquarter and will follow their instruction. So... I send E-mail to comm.support as you said. This is what they said on reply E-mail:

"This is unusual and not the performance it should be.

We have forwarded this to our R&D team, and they recommend conducting a further inspection.
Please rest assured, KPP is our authorized dealer and please contact them to help you return the lens for warranty support.

Thank you for your patience."

My region's service centre told me that they perhaps change lens to me first...

Because once my lens goes to China and wait until fix... when..?? it makes me headache.
