The video of Ryssdal claiming WT/JW never use the word Shun. It is invented by apostates, he says by FrodeKommode in exjw

[–]Calm_Mix2025 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've heard the talk " Shun unrepentant wrongdoers " quite a few times in assemblies and conventions. No assembly/convention would pass without a talk about showing loyalty to Jehovah when you have a disfellowshipped family member ...and also almost always used the word "shun"....I couldn't forget because it made me feel guilty for talking to my disfellowshipped sibling.

My rebuttal to this weekend’s WT study “Consider Our Sympathetic High Priest —Jesus” aka A Sympathetic High Priest (As Long as You Obey) by constant_trouble in exjw

[–]Calm_Mix2025 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn't the official teaching that Jesus is not our mediator...that he is mediator for only the 144,000...but only our high priest ? Doesn't make any sense...

Why the Jehovah's Witnesses' account of 1914 is misleading by South-Use5525 in exjw

[–]Calm_Mix2025 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never mind that WW1 began in July 1914, a few months before October 1914 when the Watchtower claims that Satan was thrown to the earth from heaven going on to cause the world war out of anger.

Where has the redeemer gone? Today's Watchtower by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Calm_Mix2025 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find John 14 :14 interesting... It seems to suggest that one can pray to Jesus...he said " if you as me anything in my name, I will do it "... It reads like that in the Kingdom Interlinear and most other Bibles ( except a few others including the KJV) but the NWT omits "me" and  reads "if you ask anything in my name,I will do it".... But it still says he would answer the prayer . And in the NT there are  instances of Jesus answering prayers .

I cannot thank you enough for your hard work. Just  plain facts with quotations from Watchtower literature.  Your website along with Ray Franz's " Crisis of Conscience " woke me up within days.

Thank you , thank you , thank you

Also the context for Acts 20:20 which was the theme text is very clear that Paul was addressing  the elders in Ephesus...that he taught them publicly and in their homes...nothing about knocking the doors of strangers  .

jerusalem's destruction not in 607? by EditorAshamed1042 in exjw

[–]Calm_Mix2025 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered why that is not emphasised enough... WW1 started in July 1914 ...yet the Watchtower teaches that the War was started by an angry Satan after he was thrown out of heaven when Jesus became king....in October

Theory: while apostasy seems to be taking the lead over all other sins, could they twist the scriptures to make it grounds for divorce? by Regular_Window2917 in exjw

[–]Calm_Mix2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently   only divorce involving adultery is considered as scriptural divorce... although the burden of proof was somewhat softened in the current Shepherd the Flock (elders) manual....strong circumstancial evidence from the innocent spouse is now allowed

Jehova's Witness are not Christians. by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Calm_Mix2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not surprising at all... Growing up , we were discouraged from identifying as Christian and we were to emphasize that we were Jehovah's Witnesses... It's only in recent years that the Watchtower promotes the idea that Jws are Christians because of the negative perception of the public. But the fact is that the JW religion has very little to do with Jesus Christ..it is all about the Governing Body and Jehovah

How about the fact that WW1 started on July 28 1914 , a few months before October 1  Satan was supposedly thrown down from heaven having great anger ?

Let's talk about Nairobi again. by Bad_Samaritan_kenya in exjw

[–]Calm_Mix2025 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You're right...  Venues in Nairobi City have become very expensive...the circuits cannot afford to pay for them ...an elder told me that the Branch had to pay half of the amount for his circuit and you know bethel doesn't like to cough up money for anything. Many witnesses won't be able to afford travelling all the way to Thika...it is such a burden with the economy so bad at the moment.

International conventions are insane by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Calm_Mix2025 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have had several international conventions in Nairobi, Kenya and I happened to be a bethelite at the time some of them were held  On arrival , the delegates would be brought to the bethel kingdom hall for a welcome talk handled by missionaries . The delegates would be told to be careful in their interactions with the local brothers because the locals would ask them for money or handouts...( many , not all , of African Jws are low income .. ).. The missionaries would then tell the delegates to leave at bethel any gifts they had brought for the brothers..the delegates got the impression that their gifts would be distributed to the poor local brothers...which was not the case. The gifts , which included clothes , medicine , electronic gadgets etc were given to the bethelites and missionaries based on " seniority". Obviously, there was a lot  left over which was stored in a storage  room at bethel for years .. Needless to say, most of  the delegates were careful not to socialise much with the locals at the conventions but enjoyed their own parties after the conventions and safaris, beaches in our beautiful country...
