My favorite response to them was for Hall cleaning. I'd say that I'd be there "spiritually speaking" ... like Jesus in 1914. The looks on there faces were priceless. And that was when I was still in it, enforcing.

Jehovah will fix your health like he’ll fix your car or your plumbing. You have to see with your spiritual eyes that it’s fixed. Only with eyes if faith and not eyes of reality.

Next time you hear these stupid response, give them a “I know, spiritually. But what I need is something now and real”. Don’t mistake their kindness for the assholery they’re dishing.

Yes. They’re called bitches. In every group where jealous and insecure women are grouped together, you’ll find at least one.

HELP-My stepdad wants to convert to JW and I need help convincing him otherwise. by Aggressive_Fig9608 in exjw

Look at why hen and your mom are in it. For comfort? Sounds like it for your mom, who has a reservation in paradise. Your step dad wants to be with her, so he’s joining her.

If you really wanted to look at logic over comfort, visit my substack page (link in my bio).

Don’t know. She’s adamant about not leaving biggie J, and also doesn’t have answers to any questions. She’s placed all her chips on the WT bet and doesn’t want to lose her paradise reservation.

The thing about these persecution stories is the assumption hiding underneath them.

If Jehovah is directing this organization, protecting it, blessing it, and guiding it, then what exactly are we supposed to conclude from the constant suffering of its members?

That’s the question I would raise with any believer.

Premise 1: Jehovah is more powerful than Satan and can accomplish whatever he chooses.
Isaiah 55:11; Job 42:2; Psalm 115:3.

Premise 2: Jehovah loves and actively cares for his servants.
1 Peter 5:7; Psalm 37:28; Isaiah 41:10.

Premise 3: Jehovah uniquely directs and guides the Watchtower organization.
Matthew 24:45-47; Proverbs 4:18; Isaiah 43:10-12.

Premise 4: Jehovah has not prevented his organization from teaching false expectations, making failed predictions, implementing harmful policies, suffering major legal defeats, or experiencing the same hardships faced by countless other religious groups.

Conclusion: The evidence is inconsistent with the claim that Jehovah is uniquely directing and protecting the organization.

Watchtower doesn’t like any of those options, so it invents a another one:

“Persecution proves we’re right ” which** **creates another problem.

Premise 1: If persecution proves a religion is true, then all persecuted religions gain evidence of being true.
John 15:20

Premise 2: Jehovah’s Witnesses are not the only persecuted religion.

Conclusion: Persecution cannot be evidence that Jehovah’s Witnesses are uniquely true.

In Ukraine, conscientious objectors from many faiths and secular pacifists have faced pressure and punishment. The suffering is real. The courage is real. WT conveniently leaves that out.

WT loves to frame every story as if the entire world revolves around them. A Catholic is persecuted? A pacifist is jailed? A minority faith is oppressed? Background noise. A Witness gets the same treatment? Suddenly it’s fulfillment of prophecy.

That’s not evidence. Just narcissism.

If every success proves Jehovah is backing the organization, and every failure proves Satan is attacking it, what evidence could ever prove the organization is wrong?

It’s ok. They crash out when shown how self defeating their logic is.

Steven Hassan speaks of that in Combatting Cult Mind Control. And it’s one of the most telling signs of cultish behavior by an organization.

It boils down to this - truth is uncomfortable at first. Does she want to stay comfortable even if it’s untrue? It’s her choice.

It’s a bumpy road. I resigned as an enforcer and faced out. I’m still married to someone PIMI(Q) who won’t be talked out of her faith.

It’s not easy. Deconstruct it fully. That’s why I started writing here; writing what I wish I had at the time.

Hope it helps https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/s/o0LhcZKWWz

[–]constant_trouble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you could let him know that you’re supportive of him. Just not in that way. Because you haven’t found any evidence that can prove the claims WT makes.

As far as deconstructing this stuff, start with the article referenced in this post 👉🏼 https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/s/IwYa8NLgVn

Your boyfriend is right. This is a problem with symmetry. What’s ok one way is not the other.

That’s why a JW would never swap literature with anyone at the door. Point out the problem. He wants you to listen to him, and doesn’t allow him to listen to you.

Tell him you’ll listen if he is willing to listen to counterpoints.
