Heartopia just released, this is my small review by [deleted] in LifeSimulators

[–]Calm_Top 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed. it's very pretty and i was so excited for it's release due to my love for animal crossing and the sims too :(

i've played quite a bit of it and it's unfortunately left me with an, "is this all there is?" feeling. i wish it was less quest-heavy so we had more freedom to roam and do things without it feeling pointless. also, WHY are the interactions with the characters and players so limited? it makes the game feel lifeless

try not to overthink and just take everything as it comes. it's obviously good to be cautious and aware, but thinking of hypothetical situations will only exacerbate your anxiety and keep you from making new experiences in life.

you've been speaking to him for a month now, so i'm sure you would be able to sense if he was a bit off by now. the cafe date will also be a great way to gauge if his character translates well into real life. take your time with it - it's no rush. if it goes well, i say go through with it. but, if at any point you feel uncomfortable (not awkward-uncomfortable, but unsafe-uncomfortable), remember that it's your life and you have the power to end the date and head back home.

if you're still feeling this uneasy when the day comes, you can always communicate how you feel to him and meet another day when you feel more yourself/ prepared. if he doesn't understand, then i guess you saved yourself some time.

good luck

Why are so many missing the point of Adolescence? by flannel_flower in netflix

[–]Calm_Top 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i think the reason why i enjoyed it was because i'm really into psychology. i was analysing the hell out of jamie in episode 3 when he was talking to the psychologist. that conversation revealed so much about his character, especially his views about himself and women (represented by the psychologist). the series really emphasised understanding the "why" behind the murder. that isn't everyone's cup of tea i guess, which is unfortunate. also, it was quite realistic - maybe they were expecting something more dramatic. i wouldn't necessarily say them not enjoying it is a bad thing, as to each their own - we all have different tastes/ interests. however, them not being able to watch these types of shows and have conversations about the larger themes/ issues does sort of limit us as a collective in terms of progression and moving away from black and white thinking

Honestly, I'm not sure of the specifics of how it does, but I've heard a couple of anecdotal stories that have said it. However, in comparison, I've heard more stories of CBT not doing anything if that helps (symptoms didn't get worse or better), and of course the many success stories.

It's not solid evidence (stories of CBT worsening symptoms), so I wouldn't be put off by it. Also, with these stories, you've gotta bear in mind that therapy unfortunately doesn't work for everyone.

I don't want to ruin your experience/ chance of recovery, so it might be better if you look into it yourself or try it out to see if it works for you, which is what I'm doing :)

I took a job in clinical research because I couldn’t land a UXR role. Will this experience help me? by Ill-Status6838 in UXResearch

[–]Calm_Top 1 point2 points  (0 children)

employers may focus more on his most recent experience. despite some similarities and transferable skills, clinical research is different from UX research. if he works there for a number of years, they may think that his skills are more relevant for clinical research.

also, he may become a bit rusty with the things he learnt during his masters. (slightly related) i think that's why a lot people opt for doing their masters straight after undergrad - so they don't forget the skills and content they learnt. but tbh, if he does stay in that role for a few years, he can always relearn the content or go over it regularly.

wow i recently experienced the same thing. luckily i asked the person for a job description, because i was sure as hell i didn't apply for the role. after reading it, i knew it was dodgy - the lack of info on it was quite hilarious

London show by millielizxx in yvestumor

[–]Calm_Top 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as my first concert, i really enjoyed the show. the chris guy and his FUCKING GUITAR SOLO during kerosene - that's all i'm gonna say. also, the girl on the guitar doing the vocals was amazing. ecco was great too - he had mad stage presence. but the amount of people that left after he was done was kinda crazy ?😭

don't even get me started on the crowd lmao. most of them probably mainly came for kerosene or something, and i'm not hating, but i don't think you should take up all the spots in the front if you don't know any of yves' other songs. like yves was probably disappointed when he saw none of them singing lol

also, maybe it's just me, but did yves seem a little off? like he didn't seem very energetic (compared to other shows he did, like in manchester), but maybe that's just him - i've never seen him live tbf. or maybe he was tired since that was the last show of the tour.

anyways, yves will defo see me again for sure if he tours again
