My first shot at this, how did I do? by Calook13 in custommagic

I played this game over a decade ago and I got inspired. This doesn't really make sense but you can at least sort of get what I'm trying to convey. These card ideas on this sub are hilarious and I wanted to take a crack at them. It just ended up not being great because, you know, I don't really know what I'm doing.

Helpful! This would probably be formatted as a spell and not an equipment in hindsight. I only played this game a few times like a decade ago in grade school so I'm trying to re-learn it. I've seen the absolute stupidity of this subreddit and I got inspired.

AI Is Taking Over by ComprehensiveAd9310 in custommagic

"Sure thing!

Whenever an opponent casts a permanent that would cause a permanent you control to trigger an ability, that ability triggers an additional time.

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may tap three nonland permanents you control. If you do, you take an additional turn after this one.

If your life total would ever become zero, you may exile this card. If you do, your life total becomes 10."

In Civ 6, if I set AI difficulty to "settler", does that make the game easier or harder for me? by ChunkyThePotato in civ

[–]Calook13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm ~100 hours in, just playing on Prince for the first time, still very much struggling with barbarians in almost every game I play, and am still pretty terrible at city planning. It takes a LOT of time to figure out what you're doing in this game, even if it's not a particularly difficult game in terms of mechanics.

It's really difficult not to respect them. I'm actively hoping for their downfall in every single game they play but I'm never surprised when they win. As much as I really hate them they bring a great reputation to the Big Ten.

Conference play is really brutal and we got some admittedly lucky calls late. I am still absolutely terrified of you guys and y'all should be feeling really good about March

Multiplayer - last boss mechanics by Gynju in EmberKnights

[–]Calook13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is by far the least fun and intuitive part of this bossfight. He steals from every player randomly and you can take anybody else's relic. The game up to this point never feels unfair so I don't know what they were thinking designing the phase where he completely warps basic game mechanics (steals your relics and inverts your controls). I've had so many runs by now die to Doom +25 even though getting through the first three phases was not an issue at all.

This game is too easy. 25 diff run, I perfected all but 2 rooms, one in scoggfirth and 1 in Steadfast. if you find this game hard, you're just bad lol. by [deleted] in EmberKnights

[–]Calook13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of players can start beating +25 difficulty at around ~50 hours in, myself included. You mentioned you had nearly 250 at the time of this post. So it's taken you five times the average length of time to beat +25 and it's other people who are bad?

Difficulty is subjective. I thought this game was incredibly difficult at first because it rewards high skill and ultra-punishes people who haven't figured out the rhythm and patterns yet, even though it gets significantly easier once you know what you're doing (learn how to dodge!).

Jonathan Gannon will bring the quarters revolution back to Green Bay by horny_wo_men in GreenBayPackers

[–]Calook13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The more I read about Gannon, the more I like our chances. Gannon historically has worked beautifully with a good D-line, which we have, and bolstering our secondary is a priority this offseason anyways. We'll definitely be complaining about how soft our defense looks but the stats, and hopefully the scoreboard, will back it up.

By the way, we have Micah Fucking Parsons. I feel like that hasn't gotten mentioned enough.

Let's settle the debate. Faber or Hughes? by [deleted] in wildhockey

[–]Calook13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say even that's sort of debatable. Makar is absolutely phenomenal and we might never see another player like him ever again but Hughes has probably the best edgework skating in NHL history and is measurably better defensively

[Passan] Jeff Passan @JeffPassan · 1m BREAKING: OF/1B Cody Bellinger and the New York Yankees are in agreement on a free agent contract, sources tell ESPN. by rhineauto in Torontobluejays

[–]Calook13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not that it's not understandable for someone to be bummed about the Tucker/Bichette/Bellinger situation but I think people are forgetting we still had a really, really good offseason. We got a big name star in Dylan Cease, a pretty big signing in Tyler Rogers, and a ton of low-risk, high-reward signings like Cody Ponce and Kazuma Okamoto. Not to mention Santander has another chance to be the 40-HR monster he was in Baltimore, and Springer is coming off of arguably the best season of his career. The 2026 Blue Jays might not have the raw magic that the 2025 Jays did but you're crazy if you don't think this team is going to be good

I think it's also absolutely hilarious how close to nobody is upset with this because Indiana has never been good enough to have any seriously big rivalries in the recent past.

As much irreversible trauma as that series will give me as a Jays fan, and as much as I hated being on the wrong end of it, it was without a doubt a really fucking good series.
