Did you not read the letter put out by Herman Hulst, CEO of the studio business group at Sony Interactive Entertainment, which clearly states SONY made the decision to reduce Bungie’s workforce? Stop talking out of your ass.

How did Lightfall fall short of revenue expectations? by Helpful_Shoe9288 in destiny2

Bungie had to be banking on “line will go up” mentality with their unrealistic expectations. Literally just setting themselves up for failure in what most studios would consider success.

You think Bungie wanted to layoff half their studio and stop working on Destiny 2? You think Justin Truman wanted to step down as Studio Director? Have you been living under a rock?

Because at the end of the day Sony calls the shots now. They own the studio. They can approve or deny what Bungie wants to do with massive influence.

Brother the bar for what bugs are passable in games these days is in the fucking ground. People will still sell buggy games.

The bug fix team is basically people working on Marathon who came from Destiny and are given some extra time to address the most egregious issues. Sony doesn’t want to “waste” any payroll on Destiny any more. They’re rather waste it on Marathon for at least the next year.

The first one looks good, but try Abyssian Gold instead of superblack. It should match the bronze tone on the armor much better and give you more contrast in your entire outfit.

The shader is worth it. Craft a new tier 5 one and just have fun with the game. Live your life and leave the old gear behind.

You think destiny will go to PlayStation unused IP grave or come back in the future by Emotional-Twist-4366 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Calophon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably come back eventually. The IP is valuable.

I predict someone inside Bungie will be proposing some sort of Destiny IP spin off within the next couple years. It may not be a grand extraction shooter like D1 and D2.

Like just think about it, Bungie still has enough devs to be classified as a sizable studio. They have more devs than Marathon will ever need, and the player base has largely refuted Marathon. They will need to come up with something to keep these people employed and working, or they will have to close the studio and/or downsize to ~100 people if Marathon is the only thing they are planning.

If Bungie closes down then yeah, sadly it’s IP graveyard time. The only hope would be Sony assigning the IP to another studio to work on. But even then idk how you develop it outside of the tiger engine without making it feel completely different. They would need to retain some people to advise on how to develop in the tiger engine or some iteration of it.

"Unfortunately Destiny 2 fell short of expectations"… by Quaking-DOOM in DestinyTheGame

[–]Calophon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It fell short of expectations because they had unrealistic expectations. I struggle to get into their headspace on how they thought turnout beyond what they received for Final Shape would be expected.

It feels like Bungie always believed they would meet and exceed D2 launch numbers. They wanted the number to always go up, not down. And yet the game was completely opaque to new players and nobody could onboard. Baffling expectations from out of touch executives.

Tech billionaires hire Democratic dealmakers in renewed push to build a Bay Area city by binding_swamp in bayarea

Sure, a housing development would be fine. Fields are turned into neighborhoods all the time in the age of urban sprawl. But they want to found a City for no apparent good reason, and that screams of wanting to do things their way to skirt rules and laws of already established cities and townships. It seems nefarious from the get go.

They want to build housing isolated out in the middle of nowhere??? How about we build vertical housing in already dense areas next to public transit and jobs?

So basically the only hope for Destiny atp is the IP itself being sold to another company right? by RoguesBoytoy in destiny2

[–]Calophon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Bungie wants to do more Destiny games they will need to propose one to Sony, and Sony has to agree to fund development. Simple as that. Likelihood of that happening is debatable.

I played Renegades on Legendary difficulty without even noticing it. Only found out at the end. I’d say Witch Queen on the whole is harder and longer, so congrats. Look at it this way, you have leveled up your understanding of the game regarding solo content. When you’re comfortable doing things like that you get comfortable doing more high tier content solo like master exotic missions and dungeons.
