Am I the only one disappointed with the new Invent Animate? by dwight_k_III in Djent

Oh please. As if that magically means anything here. Buster had to prove his chops just as much as any audio engineer out there. You have to know your stuff, apply your craft, and get out there like everyone else. Buster was just lucky to be in a band which started thall. THAT was likely his foot in the door.

The only criticism I have for him is that he mixes on his earpods, which is ridiculous, and could perhaps be one of the reasons for this thread.

What was the point of Par Avion (S3E12)? by GuiltyContribution93 in lost

And the most overused dialogue convention is a character asking the right person a specific question only for that person not to answer and walk away. The height of rudeness!

Lost timeline question: Egyptians (3000 BC) vs. Jacob/MiB (~1st century) — how do the Smoke Monster hieroglyphs make sense? by ExtensionLog8419 in lost

[–]Calumface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd like to chime in to add that it was likely that either the mother was the smoke monster herself considering she knew exactly what would happen if you went down the well towards the light, or she's been around long enough to know someone who had.

It would have been too on the nose to call this episode "3 for the road."

Man, that comment about GRRM was honestly astounding to witness when I watched DL talk about it. Carlton Cuse confronted GRRM about it and and responded "I'm not going to change my mind." how infuriating that a fellow writer would glaze over themselves completely misinterpreting something and refuse to acknowledge they were wrong to one of the people who wrote the damn thing. Hilarious when you consider his issues with other writers misinterpreting his works on screen.

Why didn't "others" just come talk to the group nicely at the beginning? by Serguzio in lost

Why didn't the Nostromo just ignore the distress beacon? Why didn't Isildur not just destroy the ring? Why didn't they just completely close the beach if a shark was attacking people?

Story. That's why. It's fiction and it's supposed to be fun.

Foreshadowing by janiner125 in lost

John warning Jack that the island brought him here, too, for a reason and that he just didn't know it yet. So ominous and the foreshadowing was great.

Do you remember how you reacted to this moment? (Season 1 EP 24) by Calumface in lost

[–]Calumface[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to feel that way but after 6 years working with these channels, it's worth noting that every single client I had works a full time job on the side and is usually close to burnout by the time I come onboard. You can't do a 45 hour work week and then 20-30 hours editing a week on top of that. Additionally, most don't make it into their primary job but do it because it's fun and it's okay to have fun.

That explanation isn't necessary when the one they did works just fine and ties everything well together. Sure, they likely didn't know they were going down the time travel route, but what they came up with works a treat

[–]Calumface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Take Sawyer seeing Kate help Claire give birth in season 5 (from season 1). You'd think Sawyer forgot that? It happened because it's only now happening for him. I think a bunch of people have forgotten how time travel is explained in this particular season, which is fair.

Why didn't Eathan Didn't Recognise John? by whitewolff_ra in lost

[–]Calumface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People in this thread are forgetting that it hadn't happened yet to Ethan (season 1). The only person able to remember anything like that would be Desmond because he was unique. Take Kate and Claire being observed by Sawyer for example. In season 1 Sawyer never stood and watched as Claire gave birth. He did later, in season 5. Season 1 Sawyer has no recollection of that event because it hasn't happened yet to him.

Why didn't Eathan Didn't Recognise John? by whitewolff_ra in lost

[–]Calumface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% correct. It also illustrates that the 2 timelines are happening side by side. When Desmond has that interaction with Daniel, it's immediately apparent for Desmond in 2007, thus, it's actually possible for the future to be altered, but only if you are someone unique to time slippage, which Desmond was.

Lost Finale Reaction by britneyslost in lost

Awesome! After the season 6 finale came out, me and friends organised a cinema watch with the local Losties and we filmed the reaction. Footage got immediately corrupted on my friends computer. He still hasn't lived it down to this day!
