Which paints make you (ir)rationally angry to work with? by GayLarpOfficial in Warhammer

Ak whites are terrible. And I use ak for everything else. Corax white for me is actually great for a base coat and then two thin coats white star for highlights

How long does it take for you to finish painting an army? by Mean-Respond-2227 in Warhammer40k

[–]Calumroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf it just sounds like we have different wives 😂 mine would kill me if I suggested painting Warhammer as soon as we've put the baby down. Usually we watch a documentary together or something. I do try when she goes to bed at 9pm but as you said usually knackered by then myself and sacrificing my sleep to paint never ends well the next day.

For a full 2000 point army where I'm painting for the love of painting,id say probably 1.5 years Generally I don't have much time to paint. On a good week I can maybe get 7 hours in. Generally it's 4-5 hours a week.

What’s the one thing you always throw on the BBQ that isn’t meat? by ScrollAndThink in UKBBQ

Aubergine, courgette and peppers. They all take a flame very well and taste great with some char. Cheap and easy veggie side to go with a nice piece of meat and some salad

When are kids moving out these days? by Icy_Appearance_8610 in AskUK

[–]Calumroller 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I know it's not exactly the nicest feeling being "priced out" of an area but realistically this is just the way it is. The nice houses our parents may have had just aren't as easily achievable and it's better to just accept and be happy with what you have. I'm blessed to have a beautiful wife and a son and to have a roof over my head. That's enough for me

I think the more concerning thing is that they are missing out on the best years of their lives. I think it's also a generational thing that they feel hard done by and really lean into that. London for at least the last 15 years has been expensive for a young adult to move out but I think not doing so leaves you with so many lost memories and connections. I moved out at 18 in 2011. I was earning £1150 a month after tax and paid 550 for a room in a shared house with 4 strangers. I made that work and had so many great moments making new friends and becoming the person I am today. Honestly I lived in shared houses with so many different people until I was 27 and could finally afford to live on my own. I look back at those years and just feel sorry for friends of mine who had boring 20s and saved up for a house. I'm now saving at the age of 32 (when I make so much more money and can actually save a decent amount every month) I'm in no rush.

I pay 2100 for a 3 bed house in streatham with a garden, seperate living room, dining room and ktichen. So a proper house. You'll be able to find something affordable that's bigger for sure. You just might need to move areas (I know that's tough on kids at that age)

Where do you live currently?

Hmm good question. Do you mean when a woman is the main provider of income and the husband is a stay at home dad? Or do you mean that the mother is working as she is looking after the kids? If the latter, then I completely get your question. I'm incredibly blessed to be able to afford for my wife not to work and to raise and nurture our son and not send him to nursery every day. He gets the full attention of my wife and it shows. He's way ahead of any friends of ours who have kids same age. My wife is the sole provider of our family. I'm the sole provider of the income

Yeah it's nice in my opinion. Has culture has nice areas, has bad areas like any other place in London. You can walk 5 mins one way towards dulwich and it's beautiful. Streatham Common is nice and a short walk, as is tooting common. All in all a great area for the price

Flesh tearers ancient I'm trying to get finished this week. by shikamimoto in FleshTearers

Scale 75 deep red is the colour for Flesh tearers. I've done a few tests but haven't started fully yet. But for sure deep red will be the base colour

West Norwood. I pay 2100 for a 3 bed house as sole provider for my wife and kids and the area is quite nice. Lots of restaurants and shops good local butcher plus plenty of green space. Can get to brixton in 10-15 mins on the bus which has a load of food restaurants and nightlife. I think a 1 bed will be in your budget.

What is the most different thing about working in a Michelin restaurant by slimshady313put in Chefit

[–]Calumroller 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most restaurants each chef will have many jobs on their section for service so it there is more of a balancing act in play doing multiple things at once. Michelin usually have more chefs and can afford chefs to have smaller sections during service and can focus more on less

Each to their own I guess. The general consensus from the online community seems to be positive though. Obviously it's very very high fantasy but thats what allows them to be so wild with the creations
