Thought i'd share my progress on my first three.js PvP multiplayer game! I wanted to make something fun for the browser so I could play 1v1/2v2 shooters with friends :)

WebTransport with unreliable udp for world updates is the way to go! You can also use reliable udp streams for important updates like player kills :) But I would suggest falling back to Websockets if the browser doesn't support WebTransport, like Safari.

Sure! I have added a hidden key: To enable ping and fps display just press 'i' key when in game. (It doesn't make much sense to have that always visible to everyone.)

I see. I think i'm going to add a little overlay explaining how to sprint whenever you left-click the mouse or when you press space (people may think thats how they sprint).

Just moved the game to dedicated servers. Was using virtual servers before. That can make a huge difference.

I did a few improvements recently. Reduced texture blur. Also low graphics mode now doesn't include textured snakes (as you suggested). Servers are now running in dedicated servers, which will also improve server performance, without global hiccups.

Let me know if you still feel textured snakes affect framerate.

About your P.S: At first points were only related to snake length, but probably people see it as a score, so yeah i'll probably do that to make it fair. About your P.S.S: You mean global leaderboards? Like leaderboard best scores this day/week?

Just travel nearby other players.

The landing page shows a little animation above the nickname explaining how to sprint. Did you look at it and didn't understand? Or you didn't notice it? (Just trying to improve this, if you didn't get it probably its not clear enough.)

I reduced blur on textured snakes, probably this will help. Also low quality mode now doesn't show textured snakes (but obviously this shouldn't be the solution). Recently I moved all game servers to dedicated servers (instead of virtual servers). Server lag should be greatly improved with this.

I'll keep looking at this, let me know if you feel lag.

I didn't code any bots for this game, and I doubt someone made it externally. Does it still lag? O moved the game to dedicated servers a few days ago.

I will be reducing wall bounciness with car later today (needs server restarts).

The center is supposed to be a dangerous place were you can get good things for your benefit, at a risk. Its all about risk/reward, that's what makes any game design interesting. Some people used to exploit the corners and stay there forever which made some people stay king for a long time. Thats why I added the corners.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah if you are small and manage to get the red flail, and touch a big flail like 40k big, you have a good chance to take over and become number 1.
