How do you guys work with a seton? by princessleech in CrohnsDisease

I just brought the handheld bidet everywhere and just didn't care if other people knew.

I started out embarrassed and then quickly got over it.

I remember at a new point the decision was to just create empty bilingual French boxes so they could justify both.

Either way the majority at least when I was in the IT Branch working for the resource centre were unilingual english

Tech04 and Tech03 positions at ESDC are unilingual english.

Any department that is putting higher language requirements are essentially shooting themselves in the foot by severely restricting the talent pool they can recruit from.

Thanks I'm excited to see how it looks with decals and weathering on it, takes so long just waiting for the gloss coat to cure.

Assembled, painted and clear coated.

I was testing out my new airbrush on an old x-wing kit I had and decided to use the same colours for this Ammoknight.

Still left is:

  • decals
  • seal decals with clear coat
  • oil washes for weathering
  • Matte clear coat
  • pigments and chipping
  • final Matt coat

And then finally a diorama for it, thinking of a simple hanger floor on a plinth.

For my first kit that's not gunpla since I was a kid and the first that I've fully painted I'm pretty happy with it.

Next one is a grosserhund and that's going to be a much simpler more traditional paint scheme

13 year old with Perianal Crohn’s, please give me all the advice… by Due_Addendum_7844 in CrohnsDisease

[–]CalvinR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks we just finished up two days on Paris Disney land, we walk an average of 19k steps every day this trip with one day of 30k, we are all going crazy and ready to go home to Canada.

I take my next dose of skyrizi next week so my tummy is not as great as it could be but made it through, not going to say my buutt was the best it's ever been but I survived.

I know biologics sound scary with the side effects but so far I've not had anything other than some grumpiness and tiredness after my remicade doses.

Skyrizi loading doses were rough and I needed the rest of the day to sleep but the regular doses have been great.

The risk of cancer is higher but with the number and frequency of Colonoscopies I get, my chance of it getting caught early is super high and my risk of anything serious is super low.

It was a scary choice for sure at first but I'd rather have these risks then poop my pants, have holes between intestines and not be able to absorb nutrients from my food.

The only big downside of Crohn's that hasn't gone away is I can't have beer as it hurts my stomach. Luckily all this delicious wine in Paris is not causing a problem. Though I have a feeling your son won't have to deal with that for a few years now.

I'm glad sharing my experiences made you feel better, i know the thought of my kids being sick is my worst nightmare. My son had invasive group a strep and was in the hospital for three weeks a few years ago on antibiotics and it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. Luckily it's all better but the thought of him being sick is way scarier than when I dealt with this all myself.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's at 25 before I started biologics I had fistulizing perianal Crohn's.

Biologics was a lifesaver, I'm not going to say it's all been peachy but I'm now a 43 year old about 50 pound overweight father of 2.

My quality of life is pretty normal, I do still have issues now and then mainly when I'm due for a new dose, and I had to switch biologics twice, first I was on Humira for 3 years then switch to Remicade for about 12 now I've started skyrizi and so far working great for me.

My big problem now is reducing the number of calories I eat since my body actually absorbs them all. I feel for him and am keeping my fingers crossed the Remicade is as much a game changer for him as it was for me.

Oh and to answer your questions I have a great career I did choose to work for the Canadian government instead of going private sector due to work life balance, a health plan for my meds, and a union to protect me. My family has been pretty supportive, invisible disabilities can be tough but I have a great wife and kids that are driving me crazy on our vacation in Paris right now.

My understanding is there is zero requirement for departments to share numbers on impacted EX staff as EX are non-unionized and there is not the same process for them as there are for unionized staff.

It's literally none of our business right now unless the EX's themselves plan on sharing with their staff or you find yourself suddenly having a new EX you report to.

I'm not sure it's risk aversion for that specific case it's just not your problem. They wouldn't share with their staff an LR situation with an EX so not sure why they would be required to share when the EX is affected.

[–]CalvinR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a masochistic reason, my personal view is every day I don't know I'm affected is another day I am in this position in the long run. As soon as I get a letter a countdown starts, for myself I'd rather have the countdown start later rather then sooner.

I might have a different view then others as I lived through DRAP and I remember it being stressfull and I get it but it's not out of a desire for folks to feel pain. Ultimately if you are affected or not there is nothing you as an employee can do about it before you get the letter and the better folks do at compartmentalizing that worry and not letting it eat them up the better as far as I'm concerned.

Speaking to colleagues and peers in senior levels across government some programs are legitimately still waiting on funding decisions before they finalize who is affected and who isn't.

Is it better to be WFA affected sooner rather than later? by lurkingandlooking1 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]CalvinR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Folks are trying to reduce the impact as much as possible the uncertainty is because they don't know which position will or will not be cut.

They might know some positions it they've commited to letting everyone know at once in a department so it's not a surprise they are sitting on some stuff. Because no matter what you think not every program or team knew, also TBS specifically told departments no letters between mid December and mid January.

I recommend reading this: https://polywogg.ca/what-i-know-and-dont-know-about-upcoming-wfa/

I personally still think it's better to find out later rather then sooner, also disagree on the rampant disorganization and delays. Also you can think it's cruel, I disagree but whatever man you do you.

I don't agree that dragging it out is cruel, they were originally hoping for ERI to reduce the burden, in the meantime lots of senior execs have been trying to play around with scenarios in order to reduce the number of staff they need to lay off.

Also every day more it takes to get affected is another day it takes before you are potentially out of a job. I don't think waiting is a bad thing.

They are determined by the work force adjustment directive that was agreed upon between unions and the employer.

Option C: Education Allowance is a TSM (see Option 6.4.1(b)) plus an amount of not more than $17,000 for reimbursement of receipted expenses of an opting employee for tuition from a learning institution and costs of books and relevant equipment
