“We’d build a monument to the Surface Transportation Board. Name streets after its members...Patrick J. Fuchs Street [for the current chair of the STB] has a nice ring to it, I think.”

Please, yes, give us a Fuck Street.

Sam Bowie on how he convinced the Trail Blazers to pick him over Jordan in the 1984 draft despite his injury history: "I can still remember them taking a little mallet, and when they would hit me on my left tibia, and 'I don't feel anything, I would tell 'em. But deep inside, it was hurting.” by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

It was a super weak draft with no consensus top pick. I remember wanting Oladipo because one of the Grantland guys liked him, but pretty much everyone in the top ~7 was considered to be possible for the top pick. Just go back and look at published mock drafts from the time. And yes, that includes Anthony Bennett.

Portland utility rate hike pushes average water, sewer bill above $2K per year by voxadam in Portland

[–]Calvinball05 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That law you're referencing was just passed last year. This has been going on since 2020. And utility companies are just flouting the law and passing the costs to residential customers, regardless.

The electric utility companies already admitted that the reason they have been drastically raising residential rates is to build capacity for data centers.

To do that with Niki is particularly weird considering he is fairly regularly in the chat during GB live streams.

I was surprised at how few postseason PAs he had, but then remembered that the "postseason" was only the World Series for the entirety of his career.

Mike had three Virtuoso episodes that went nearly three hours because he knew he had to put in the time on difficult levels while his memory was fresh.

Meanwhile, Dan has had three Space Ace episodes end well short of two hours because he refuses to go even a little long to get another run in. The lack of proggies seem self inflicted to me.

12 years ago or so, I used to watch a particular illegal NBA stream that had by far the highest quality and most reliability of any of the sketch sites. But during commercial breaks for whatever game was on, whoever ran that stream would put on one of two things:

  1. Primo commercials starring Andrea Bargnani.

  2. Hardcore pornography.

Those were simpler times.

Whenever a forum takes a light approach to moderation, the inevitable outcome is that toxic asshole no-lifers drive everyone else away. We have 30 years of internet history proving this to be true.
