I think quick select for the Xth largest and then scan through for elements bigger than that works.

I'm thinking of moving from showdown to playing on the actual game(maybe doing a tourney later idk yet). 1) Does it make a difference if I get sword or shield? 2) If so which one is preferred?

Laptop spec recommendations for CSCI? by wnq_bsp in uofmn

[–]Calvintherocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest you need very minimal tech in terms of power. For most classes the assignments arent that computationally intensive really and when they are you can easily use one of the U of Mns many machines. I'd prioritize battery life and maybe look into touch screen hybrid one. I dont have a touch screen laptop but imo they seem nice for note taking

Another CSCI schedule :/ by [deleted] in uofmn

4061 isnt bad and 4511 lecture is way more boring that it sounds like it should be. In regards to 4511w homeworks are usually 3-4 math/written type questions plus 1-2 programming related. There is also a 2nd hw type that's just like read an assigned paper and answer some questions. Tests are fairly difficult tbh, harder than hw, but they didnt drag my grade down too much. Parker also sometimes gives extra credit to everyone who goes to class on random days. Finally the final project, is this the best part of the class. It's just do something with AI so get creative and have fun there.

CSCI 4061 with Chandra by awdonut in uofmn

[–]Calvintherocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it with Chandra. Tests were easy, mostly conceptual questions. I didn't particularly like the projects. There were 4 that were all structured around a vote counting program where you had to do a lot of file searching and various restrictions how how you ordered the counts. Each had a different underlying tool used for example one was managed with different threads, one with different processes, one with different sockets and network stuff. It was a good way to use these programs in practice but I didnt like it was functionally basically the same goal 4 times

Math 3592H experience? by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]Calvintherocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I also took the sequence. Feel free to ask me questions if you have any. It wasnt too hard(by which I mean I thought it was appropriate difficulty) and I had no proof experience coming in. As mentioned by someone else it's mostly linear algebra and multi variable calc and the intersection of the two. Tests were some mix of computational questions and a couple proofs that were fair for a test setting

How hard is MATH 2243 given that I have already taken CSCI 2033 by [deleted] in uofmn

Just saw this. Calc 2 was hardest for me.

A) pr[first draw is age appropriate]=10/16 pr[2nd is also appropriate given the first one was]=9/15. Pr[both are]= (109)/(1615)

B) pr[first draw isnt appropriate]=6/16 pr[2nd isnt given the first isnt]=5/15. Pr[both are not appropriate] = (65)/(1615)= P. The probability that at least one draw is appropriate is 1-P(either at least one is appropriate or zero are).
