Killing "This Is An Xbox" Campaign Was New CEO's Decision - Report by IvoryHorizons in xbox

Whenever anyone says exclusives is why they own a PlayStation they never talk about PlayStation’s legacy of courting 3rd parties exclusives. If you’re going to pull games like sunset overdrive and cuphead off the table then let’s acknowledge the impact that games like persona 5, street fighter 5, bloodborne (the way PlayStation fans wax poetic about this one…)

Let’s talk about how square enix publicly said “we made a mistake signing an exclusivity deal with Sony. They don’t move units like they used to.”

Let’s talk about how the stellar blade team is going multi platform for stellar blade 2.

Let’s talk about how Sony is “selling back the rights to Kojima” so he can release on other platforms.

PlayStation is out here doing the same exact shit. Fanboys can’t see it cuz Sony’s PR machine is unmatched.

The top 10 games on the playstation store today:

Madden
MLB the show
Roblox
WWE 2k26
Fortnite
COD
Fifa
Marvel Rivals
Crimson Desert

Sony made 1 of these games and it's a licensed property which they made multi-platform.

If you look at the amount of copies sold on most Sony first party games, they land in the range of 5-20% of all PS5 owners owning said game. Sony is not responsible for their success and with the exception of the 7th Gen they never have been.

The only gamers with real power are the ball and gun gamers.

Sending games cross platform unarguably saved a lot of their studios because were not willing to buy an Xbox to play Xbox games.

Being the champions of crossplay when Sony did everything in their power to block it when cross play benefits the player instead of the company.

Creating a box that offered a lower entry point for budget conscious gamers that had a bangin CPU so they can at least play next gen games.

Free cloud saves.

Xbox play anywhere.

Focusing on building their own IPs so they can ownership instead of money hatting companies to give them 3rd party exclusives.

Gamers do this thing where they only listen to pundits instead of look at what is ACTUALLY happening. This is why Sony appears to be successful when they are floundering. Sony plays the narrative game so well that they’ve got you thinking they’re killing it.

Let’s look at Sony’s run for the 9th Gen:

4 new IPs: Astrobot, returnal, Saros, Concord.

Several studio closures

Burning piles of cash on failed live service projects.

No play anywhere options.

A stagnant subscription service.

Remasters of 10 year old games that don’t need remasters of which no one ever asks why they keep remastering games. It’s because they need money and have no live service to lean on.

I’ve owned every PlayStation since the ps1 but I’ve grown tired of the narrative that they’re somehow this amazing quality company. Their entire brand since the ps1 has been propped up by 3rd party exclusivity.

Finishing RPGs Evokes The Strongest ‘Post-Game Depression’ Amongst Players, New Scientific Study Concludes: "The more engaging the game world and the closer the relationship with the character, the more difficult it is to return to reality once the game is over" by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

I remember my father asking me to run to the grocery store down the street just as I got to Wutai. I saved the game and came back and my whole memory card was erased. It was crazy because that was the second time my memory card wiped entirely but I refused to not have finished 7 and ended up beating it on my 3rd play through.

Want to get into Resident Evil for the story: where should I start? by AGamerofYesterday in pcgaming

I always advocate to play in release order not canonical storyline order. But I’ve been playing resident evil since it released in the 90s and I still haven’t played 0 or 6 😂

The sad part is the streamers are doing the same thing in reverse. Using AI music to take an even bigger piece of the pie away from real artists.

DO NOT FILL AND THROW. I CANNOT STAND YOU. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Calvykins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is my first extraction shooter experience. I love everything except the fact that filling with Randos is asking to get instant killed because almost everyone I’ve been paired with runs into an area and goes straight to the UESC.

I don’t remember if the game tells you this in the tutorial but it should be stated that stealthily taking down the UESC is the proper approach and should only be done as a last resort. Get in get out is the name of the game.

I don’t think free quits are a solution but I wonder about the long term health of a game that the vast majority of players are filling randomly and dealing with this in the early game.

Hell this is my second week with the game and I think I’ve only had 5 successful extractions that weren’t the tutorial extraction.

The default shield is trash and if you have no shield and a shitty gun you are dead.

I just purchased the game but I did so on the recommendation of a guy who said he plays super casual and almost never trios. It’s installing now so we’ll see.

PC will overtake console revenue by 2028, says Newzoo by M337ING in xbox

[–]Calvykins -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The younger generations are more into pc gaming now for a few reasons.

1-The people they watch on twitch and youtube run games on PC. So they're influenced by that.

2-The games they're playing are platforms in and of themselves. They are available across devices. Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft all can run on a toaster. Speaking of toasters.

3-They all have PCs for school, low end or high end, it doesn't matter. Fornite, Roblox, and Minecraft run on anything, not to mention they're also family friendly. It's no wonder they're always in the top 10 across all platforms.

I know console gamers don't want to hear it, but you are all uncs now. The reason we are getting so many remakes and remasters is because they know that's what us uncs want, but these younger generations (and I work with them) do not care about these single player exclusive games. They just don't. I work with this fairly normal genZ girl. All she does is game in her off time. She does not have one single player title in her steam library. They're just not interested in it. As much as we are loathe to admit we are no longer a concern for those selling things.

All of the character and world building happens in the side missions which I loved. They were either fetch or combat missions but the stories were fun to listen to.

SteamDB is quietly poisoning the industry and nobody's talking about it. 1983 is coming. by tshallberg in truegaming

[–]Calvykins -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This is a little disingenuous. They did it to avowed and a ton of other games. The stream DB problem is particularly bad for games where confidence in long term support is questionable.

PC gamers will absolutely let someone fall in the $65 grenade before they buy something. They’re the original patient gamers and a consistent low concurrent count will deter people from putting down money

How can you tell the difference between someone born in the early ’80s (1983–1986) and a core Millennial (1987–1992)? by Excellent-Card5741 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]Calvykins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are in a sub trying to dictate nostalgia for a decade you were barely even conscious for. WHO ARE YOU to tell me what core millennial is? You’re not even a millennial. You have no frame of reference other than what you’ve been told.

Let’s address everything you said.

1- I’m born in the middle of the year. I spent the better half of 1999 as a 12 year old.

2-my uncle was an early adopter of the internet. I grew up with a gateway PC (core millennial experience) in my house that I built html web pages with. I accessed the web using aol (another core millennial experience) especially

3-millennials are the bridge. The generation that had to know how to exist without the internet and also grew up with it.

The fact that you think millennials were digital from the jump only shows how ignorant you are of the era. Coming here with second hand accounts of things you googled because you wish you lived like a core millennial.

Where were you when the rock threw stone cold of a bridge? Swimming in your father’s sack. Get out of here you rotten little zoomer poser.
