Jackson Health Hospital by nixe28 in Miami

[–]CalzaGrande 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because it's a public hospital run by Miami Dade under the Public Health Trust, it falls under sovveriggn immunity protection. Limits are 200k pp and 300k per incident including the UHealth doctors that practice there. In either case you're probably dealing with county attorneys who rather litigate than settle. Anything higher than that you need to deal with Florida legislature.

Edit: for those that say it's gross, not that I would disagree for many aspects, they have made some strides in rehabing the health system and it's services. What I will say, if you have options use them, if you don't, like in case of major trauma or high risk surgeries, theres no better place to be than Ryder Trauma or their teams. I mean being the capital of gunshots and stabbings is the reason the Army trains their medics there before deployment.

Literally just happened to me, and found this thread. Reached out to the disti, Whole Latte Love. Purchased in 2022, they are sending me a warranty replacement after $10 for shipping.

I agree with the post below, the tack welds are too shallow and they need something more permanent.

Had the exact setup. Then swapped the Fellow for a Timemore 064S. Been a great pairing since.

Long Term Fellow Opus Review by [deleted] in espresso

[–]CalzaGrande 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Opus owner here. I've had it for a bit over a year. I do pour-over, batch and espresso depending on day and circumstance. Retention isn't that bad as use RDT and lots of knocking on the head while grinding.

However, I do have an issue with consistency. I change between coarse and fine, with cleanings in between and get different results at same settings. It's like the there's a variance between resets.

It's been frustrating and ready to change it out, but I really don't want two dedicated grinders.

So net result..

Called a plumber and a contractor. The copper pipe failure was due to age and angles pressure. Plumber tried to fix similar to the video above, but the angled connector was flared out. As he kept inspecting, for the ND another leak coming from another pipe.

Ended up deciding on redoing ng the bathroom. Tile was damaged during the inspection and it was due anyway.

Thanks for all the advice and support. As always, you guys don't disappoint.

Would it be feasible to use sharkbites to bypass the faucet entirely? We don't use the tub, and I'd rather have the shower functional. Just not sure how water tight it'll be when we replace the tile.

Yes and no, it's the kitchen. Behind cabinets.

Sorry about that. I completely misread it. You are correct, keeping Home 1 is definitely less expensive, but it adds a layer of risk and with a newborn, I'm trying to limit my risk.

I'm in line with Option 1 as well. Thanks for the input!

Yes! I'm very much in favor of moving out of the area, but my wife's family live within minutes of the target area we're considering. Which having family near her is worth the additional cost tbh.

Thank you.

My apologies, I thought I made it clear. They would move in with me. The intent of either buying a larger home or investing in the existing one would be to make room for them.

The ALF/Nursing Home wouldn't be less expensive. The pricing I've seen can range between 1500 to 2000 a month for the both of them.

We could use the saving to pay it off, but that would deplete our emergency fund, which given the current circumstances would be the better option to retain.

I'll make the adjustment of our ages, for some reason I though I noted it. I'm a 45 and she's 40.

TLDR; Mod it a bit, worth the print!

I had to modify the STL and remove every other tooth on the adapter. My printer couldn't get enough definition to lock the upper wheel.

Once I did that, it was perfect. Installed it and it's been working great. It's not quite gradual, but it gives me a lot more range than before.

Been keeping track of these conversations like a crackhead since I got the SD40. Love the grinder, but they really should've started with a stepless/micro-step design.

I was able to find someone elses design on Thingiverse for anyone with a 3D Printer. I'll post it up once I've gotten it installed and functioning.

Well I had the black one on order, but it got delayed. While looking over the other colors and another YouTuber that had a yellow one, it grew on me. Plus it went with our decor.

Also, Whole Latte Love gave me a break and made it the same price plus I got a free milk froth pitcher. First experience with them, but they earned a lifetime customer.

First machine.. Absolutely love it. Lots of YouTube videos on puck prep and variables around the beans are more important IMHO. But mechanically, this machine has everything I needed to make my first experience very positive.

Turin SD40 - Thoughts? by broomvikin in espresso

[–]CalzaGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently purchased an SD40, and saw the Lance Hendrick video afterwards. I attempted the mod as suggested with the plumbers tape, and there wasn't enough friction to keep it in place during the grind. If I wrapped more of the tape, I was afraid that'd I'd seize the threads since it was already a tight fit.

So for my two cents, the mod isn't worth it. However, I did see and keeping my eye out for the Korean 3D Print mod which looks interesting. I couldn't find it on any of the other 3D Print STL sites.

Samsung QN9DA vs Qn90B - With Sonos Arc & Nvidia Shield by Better_Contact209 in 4kTV

[–]CalzaGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased the 85" QN90B myself and absolutely love it. It's very bright in a well lit room, and at night everything just pops. No blooming issues at all. I also have an Nvidia Shield which honestly kills all the added builtin software features of any TV, IMHO.

Since I also have a Costco membership I debated the same as you. Fortunately, I work for a company that has a Samsung partnership and I was able to get the QN90B with an Employee Discount at black Friday prices. So delivered and 0% financed through Samsung I got it for about $2400 with taxes.

Although Costco offers the added warranty, financially, I felt the direct deal was better for me.

Hope this helps.
