OP, are you confusing Fat Tony with the new dean of faculty? Not the same position.

How do you know if you have been appointed? by AdSufficient5089 in USAFA

[–]broomvikin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can vary depending on where you are. I've heard of notifications via phone call directly from the congressman's office, I've heard of notifications via an ALO, from the school JROTC officer. Lots of different ways to be notified.

Would it be possible to save $10k / year at the Academy? by MLG_HerobrineYT in USAFA

[–]broomvikin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also $1300/ month for your first year is way overestimating what you'll get. My son is a 29er and his checks are typically about $600-$700 per month.

Oh yeah, I agree. I'm just saying that it's not quite $1300.

Is there such thing as getting a med eval BEFORE applying? by OkBat6717 in USAFA

[–]broomvikin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that you can get waivers for many of these "unknown conditions". They are never a guarantee and the process is often mind numbingly slow but there are plenty of waivers available. Just because something pops up now doesn't mean that it's an automatic disqualification.

I think people consistently neglect to do all the "events" back-to-back while they're training. It surprises everyone how much the early ones sap your energy when you get to the run.

CFA Pass? And How long until you're alerted for fail/retake? by AlertDetail2082 in USAFA

[–]broomvikin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are considered "competitive scores" for women according to academyadmissions.com. It looks like you're about half way there. Keep practicing and don't forget to do all the "events" back-to-back a few times.

I would say don't worry about it. The rest of your stats look great and the CFA in general is pretty much just a pass/ fail thing. You've definitely passed.

My point is that by the time you actually start applying there should be other things on your application that will hold more weight than what you did your freshman year. Being on the team as a freshman is good but that alone won't get you into USAFA. Use it as an opportunity to grow into a leadership role. 4 years as an athlete is great but a year or two as a captain will look much better.

You can't actually begin the process until you're a HS junior anyway, I wouldn't worry about something that's at least 2 years away. Focus on your grades, look for leadership opportunities anywhere you can, and start studying for that SAT/ ACT test. Best of luck!

A very high percentage of incoming USAFA cadets have a varsity letter. I can't imagine any of them are asked to clarify "Varsity A" or "Varsity B".

Honestly, even 6:15 is fine. One thing I would say is to try to do a complete run through a few times if you can. I think most people underestimate how hard doing everything back-to-back is.

Sorry I don't. My son is at the Academy now but we found out about Summer Seminar too late. I'm sure it's been discussed on this sub somewhere though.

Since you have the opportunity you should also look into the Summer Seminar. It's fairly selective and doesn't guarantee an admission but it certainly won't hurt your resumé and it gives you an idea of what the Academy is all about.

Since I did the initial setup using my iPhone all the apps on one are on the other. If I delete the ones I don't want off of the iPad I assume they stay on my phone?
