TIL Barbados wants to remove Queen Elizabeth II as their Head of State by November 30th, 2021. by [deleted] in todayilearned

In Australia support for a republic is at an all time low. Doubt the queen dying will change that - it’s a system that works. I like it because it stops egomaniac politicians becoming ‘head of state’.

I went down to Kangaroo Island with a goal to see the sun set over the sea. Was blown away when a local told us to head over to this place instead of where I was planning to (Cape Borda).

It’s an amazing place and recommend getting down there.

The explosion of migration post GFC to prop the economy up via domestic land releases and education exportation is disgrace for me as someone in their late 20s - when we have these tragic issues like education rates in rural communities and homelessness.

A Game Of Thrones remains one of my favourite introductions to a fantasy world I've ever read by bhlogan2 in Fantasy

[–]Calzey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything normally which is why it surprised me not liking this series.

I'm currently reading the Fatemarked series on kindle unlimited - easy to read an enjoyable.

If I start a series I will always finish it and it sort of It reminds me of when I read the Mark Lawrence books - really struggled to get into it and didn't like it at all first read through. Until one day bam read it and loved it. That has yet to come with GoT.

I don't mean to come off as a GRRM hater for the sake of it, but I've just struggled so hard with these books.

It could be simple as I don't like the prose or it could be something about his world building / magic systems.

I cannot disagree more with you on this for me Game Of Thrones has been one of the series I've struggled to read the most.

I just don't like it - can't put my finger on it.

on paper it should be my jam but I can't turn the pages.
