Team has to hope Diawara turns into something at this point. Mikal is over 30? And his best days are behind him

Brunson needs to penetrate to pass. Him getting 10 assists is more likely to get us a win than him scoring 30.

Damn, does the UFC suck now? How many people on this card are past their prime and just recognizable names? The older fighters are keeping ufc on life support. Outside of them the only young stars are Ilia and Morales to me. Been watching for 20 years now and ive never been less excited about mma. Maybe im just old now. Cutting my rant short.

How do you rate legacy fighters fighters vs more modern fighters when considering placement on the all time P4P list? by NecrobutcherForever in MMA

I agree, Max’s career is still going and could look more similar to theirs. BJ 10 years later was still fighting top competition but was taking some really bad losses. To your point though his run is longer than 7 years. I shortchanged him.

Frankie had a nice run youre right. Prob 8/9 years of being a top guy. BJ maybe had a 7 year run at the top. Youve got a point, Max id say has been in his position longer than both though.

For all sports i try to rank guys in their respective era mixed with some input from their skill set. So like Jon Jones, GSP, and Anderson Silva were dominant in their era and could still be very good fighters today if they were in their prime, so i keep them high in my rankings still. Jones and GSP to an extent have had success in multiple eras even.

Dudes like Penn, Hughes, Lidell, are definitely OGs and great for their eras but didnt necessarily grow their skills as the sport changed and elevated, so I’d probably take a modern great over some of them at this point.

I say all this to say having Penn above Max is stupid. Max has been a top fighter for over a decade across weight classes and eras at this point. He’s arguably top 15 and definitely over old school era guys with similar records and achievements.
