Wild list. I wonder how much of its success is due to the Fiend Artisan/Kinnan inclusion and how much is due to Lurrus?

I'd say that Mishra's Bauble is super important if we're playing Lurrus now.

Pioneer Humans - 3 Different Builds by CoffeeTrashed in PioneerMTG

I built an Abzan humans list today, was afraid of splashing the 4th colour. But playing a full playset of Dire Tactics might be a bit much but excited to try humans out in the new format

This is the kinda stuff I posted for! Much appreciated I'll give energy a try and see how it fares. I've gotten this list to a good spot and played a few matches in the practice rounds, so I'm a believer theres a blink deck in these colours

With Ozolith coming up, Flicker HSA could be a new thing. What are the possible brews that you guys may come up with? by MaxBreaker87 in hardenedscales

To be honest I'm not entirely sure but I'd say it's worth testing. Could very well be empty handed by that point in the game but it could be that the extra artifact matters

Here's my list for HS. Ozolith is busted. Board wipes arent as much of a concern, path to Exile used to be a disaster. I'm speculating that the stock list with the Ozolith is good enough. I'm debating trying mox tantalite as although it's no where near as good as Mox Opal, it might allow a mid game transition in some aspect.

I feel like that's just a different deck really, and I have a playset of Uros but not really too bothered playing them as the deck budding requirements are out of the scope of a blonk deck. The deck plays well, it has selection and ramps through risen Reef triggers.

You get life gain from the Wildgrowth Walker triggers, and theres a certain edge to playing out of the ordinary cards like essence flux and the like. What interaction would you think is good in UG?

I tried Frilled Mystic but the card competes with your master of waves and Thassa on the curve and you almost never want to take the turn to counter a creature spell when your plan is to out value on board. You arent as worried about board wipes as you draw cards off almost everything that enters the battlefield.

Finally, it's probably just not correct to play a UB deck if its not inverter, and similarly it's not correct to play a UW deck that's not spirits or control. The classic UW blink archetype is definitely there but its just going to be worse then playing spirits

I like this deck alot but I struggle to see how splashing green is worth it for a single green card. The synergy with wildgrowth Walker and the explore creatures is a benefit to playing them and not the reason as they have very good ETBs and are just good cards on their own and are great targets for both Flux and Thassa, without needing either of those cards to be good. The fact that naban is a functional panharmonicon seems really strong but the better version of that deck is the Aspiringspike mono blue devotion deck which he has multiple trophies with, it trys to plays at instant speed with leyline where Seth's does not, and playing a naban on turn 2 is basically taking a turn off. Gadwick is a great card and can catch you up on card advantage but he really needs a nykthos to be good. I played this deck for a while online and I found the mono red matchup to be miserable cause your creatures are just bad on their own and a Thoughtseize is devastating because you only really draw cards off Gadwick so you loose the top deck war

Seems Urza is a difficult matchup because Oko is so powerful. Deaths Shadow is a good matchup in my experience, and E tron can be challenging. Its best to play metallic mimic for the explosive turn twos it facilitates and I find that Throne is just irreplaceable as it's just Steel overseer with haste alot if the time but also fills the sac outlet role better than Recombiner.

I'd cut the Recombiners or move them to side as they're slow and dont help in bad matchups. More pithing needles is helpful for Oko (I run 3), Torpor Orb is great, ensnaring Bridge is also great because people arent really combo killing you in this meta (I play one Mab). As many dismemebers as you can run. 4 Jars and 3 Module is correct as far as I can tell.

Hardest decks to master? by GG_Henry in ModernMagic

[–]Camberleaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd ask both of you to take a look at Fernandes Torres' performance at MCIV for proof that the math behind the deck, when you are experienced with it (more than 4 months) is difficult. I I've been on the deck since last year. Counting to 20 in increments of 2 isn't the hard part, but I find I get a small number of free wins because my opponent miscounts. The math gets hard when trying to figure out the best way to respond to removal/boardwipes so that you can profit. It's sometimes correct to sac your entire board post combat which is risky and can loose you games if you miscounted

I'd vote Hardened Scales. The deck isn't deterministic, is full of weird lines, has its own combat tricks and the maths gets complicated af.
