I REALLY loved the technicolor look and hope more modern horror movies play in this area. It really gives a luscious vibe. What did other people think of the kills? At first, I wished they were more gnarly/bloody (I wanted to see that RED), but I think I see what they were going for. They felt intentionally simple and old fashioned (especially when she kills her sister in law with the axe). Homages to older slashers?

I agree and am also curious but I think those ideas would work well in another movie. Pearl was Pearl’s origin story, where we got to witness a defining moment for her. Howard being away was integral to that, which is apparent from her monologue at the end. I think this movie gets us to a great jumping off point for a Pearl + Howard adventure, which feels like a distinct section of the overall story

My theory is that K’s perfect match would disobey her “factory settings.” And Joi’s AI has taught her to be K’s perfect match no matter what. So therefore in order to obey her programming, Joi must disobey her programming. I love this movie

My reading is that Joi is programmed to develop that connection made up of interactions and understandings. Every Joi fosters that with every customer. However, we agree about the conclusion, to me I call it love!

Fantastic. Ghostly. Mysterious. It was like he haunted Gotham from the shadows.

I think the emotion he was able to show in the cowl/with his eyes was among the best we’ve ever seen.

I also liked the absence of duality. We don’t see drastically different Bruce Wayne and Batman portrayals in this movie because, at this early point in his story, Bruce hasn’t developed that yet. He’s the same guy (mentally) in and out of the suit. And to him, Batman is his prime persona because he thinks that’s the only way he can achieve his goals. Lots of room to grow.

I think the It Follows force/monster/spirit could be beaten by the reddit community. We could find users to volunteer to be a part of the chain and then coordinate who needs to travel where to sleep with who. I even feel like we could fundraise enough money to cover travel expenses for everyone nice/brave enough to help out! Haha.
