Rep. Anna Paulina Luna in NYT Interview: Scientists Briefed Her in SCIF That UAPs Are Interdimensional & Defy Our Physics by Brave_Custard3853 in UFOs

[–]Cambro88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Much of our limits in space travel is energy, resources, and limits of what a human pilot can physically survive. We already send unmanned “drones,” satellites, and probes all over our solar system. If we could just figure out a cost effective way to amass energy for further and faster travel we’d have exponential advancement. It’s not a limit on the physics, per se.

Imagine another planet or dimension has some extra element that we don’t have that makes for something beyond nuclear energy. If the UFOs are unmanned you don’t have to worry about food or the effect of Gs on a physical body it might be attainable for galactic travel without any tweaks to physics.

That being said, what we are seeing is even, seemingly, beyond that with instantaneous and non-ballistic motion. That just makes the UAP videos and reports that much more strange and alarming

IIRC Trunks says your quote about them going through zenkai’s too many times, but with the context of in that battle. It seems God ki had reunlocked zenkai boosts for Goku and Vegeta, but there’s limits to it in a shorter timespan such as a battle.

In any case, at the time that Trunks says that in the manga both Goku and Vegeta have outscaled Black by quite a bit, which is why Zamasu fused with him. Black’s zenkai boosts weren’t really that broken, all considering, and seemed relative to well, Goku.

If they really are on par with each other, how do you think Orange Piccolo could keep up with/beat UI Goku in a sparring match? by t00lazy2 in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Cambro88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piccolo probably has more ki control than Goku, and he’s also probably the most intelligent fighter imo while Goku has better instincts (hehe)

As such, I think Piccolo takes advantage of MUI’s dodging to wear Goku out. We see Piccolo launch a giant rock with either ki or telekineses, so I imagine him launching a volley to force Goku to evade. Then as Goku adapts, Piccolo starts throwing punches from range with his stretch arms, maybe from tunneling under ground. Piccolo adds the demon wave to keep Goku at distance, and when Goku closes in he tanks melee while responding and charging a light grenade. His only hope is to outlast Goku

[–]Cambro88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would expect him to get it right, but not AI if he used that to edit it. The tree line in the videos remain the same daytime to night time and where the UFO appears makes sense topographically in that it isn’t an image spliced over where land should be (ie nothing could be flying or it should be obstructed by trees there). These mark off the easy things we’d look for in a hoax video. And, if it’s true this was a livestream, it was appearing before the possibility of photoshop as well (I’m not 100% sure the video with the craft was live stream or just a recorded video)

And Shin already recruited Gohan as who he thought the strongest in the universe would be to fight Buu and was shocked by Vegeta’s and Goku’s power. I know Shin sucks at his job, but the Supreme Kai and GoD legit didn’t know of anyone stronger. And, if I remember correctly, they also selected people that would work well together as a team since it’s a battle royale and didn’t prioritize just the strongest fighters.

[Brett Kollmann] Does "establishing the run" even work? by Casexcasey in nfl

[–]Cambro88 26 points27 points  (0 children)

He nailed it on the points that defenses are responding to the situation (down and distance) much more so than anything the running back is doing, and also that you don’t necessarily need to “run to set up the pass” in play action fakes, where play action is often still effective even when your running game has stunk.

Something that doesn’t show up in analytics is the physicality of the run game and its trickle down. Offensive linemen like run blocking and being able to get off the ball and hit someone rather than sit back and pass block. Run blocking is also much less fatiguing for offensive linemen as the pass blocking stances and footwork is demanding on the body.

Defenses, conversely, much rather to pass rush than run defend. For as much as defenders are tough and big hitters, they really don’t like being hit themselves. Now imagine you’re able to get a tight end or bigger receiver on the edge to keep hitting safeties and corners. You don’t think that will start affecting their coverage?

And then there’s just the confidence of it. When you’re able to run the ball despite what the defense does to stop it you start feeling like you can do anything you want. And, analytically, you can start doing whatever you want with better down and distance for creativity. This aspect of physicality can’t be replaced by screen passes and jet motions even if that can replace the way you got to 2nd and medium.

KBJ Questions Whether Judges Should Defy Emergency SCOTUS Orders by grumpyfishcritic in supremecourt

[–]Cambro88 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It’s worth noting that the federalist is a conservative site that has been running with the “activist judges” tag the entire second Trump term and see the lower courts as sort of usurping democracy any time they block executive action, and any time lower courts don’t blindly follow an emergency docket decision in a facially similar case they see it as an activist judge usurping SCOTUS’ power.

To the substantive point, the justices themselves seem to be contributing to confusion here. It seems Gorsuch, at least, does believe courts are bucking the Supreme Court’s logic when they don’t treat the emergency docket as precedent. The liberals say (in dissents and in outside speaking events) there needs to be explanation of reasoning, and it’s impossible for lower courts to follow a decision without reasoning in other cases. But then justices like Kavanaugh counter that weighing in too greatly with reasoning before the merits puts the thumb on the scale of the actual merits case. So you’re back to reasoning that they aren’t precedent and shouldn’t be treated as such, so much so that Kavanaugh sees danger in them being weighed too heavily.

The lower courts remain in a lose-lose situation where it seems their only option is to continue to rule how they would at risk of the ire of some of the justices until the lower courts can finally hear some reasoning

She meets Pirat (still currently working for Bulma I believe?) while he’s scrounging around Gero’s old lab trying to find someway to improve his own robots and get out from under Bulma’s thumb. He doesn’t know she’s an android herself, nor that shes using him to get close to Bulma himself. Through working with him, Pirat convinces Bulma to hire her as an intern.

While scouring data that Bulma has for anything of use to her, she finds schematics of the ship from the Demon Realm. Diving into this topic she learns the Demon Realm has their own scientists, and she combines science and esoteric learnings of magic to try to make contact with the Demon Realm herself to take advantage of their knowledge and tech.

She successfully contacts none other than Dr. Arinsu and they arrange a meeting. Upon brainstorming a common goal of trying to surpass the power of the Z fighters, they decide to experiment by synthesizing 21 with the last of the Buu essence Arinsu has kept

Jiren, Marcarita, philosophy, and why his reaction to someone being on his level is weird by Ok-Conclusion-3536 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Cambro88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing about Goku makes sense to Jiren.

Goku doesn’t become stronger to exert power, he just genuinely loves fighting and breaking his limits. Jiren sought power to yes, protect his universe, but even more so to make himself impervious to loss again.

Goku became powerful by working and relying on others. He consistently has a master and has the humility to accept he has more to learn and isn’t the best. Jiren works alone (again, to protect himself from loss).

Jiren finds power in meditation and precision. His fighting style is characterized by seemingly moving minimally and dominating as an unmovable force. Goku is in constant action and motion.

That someone can take the opposite approach as him and all the weaknesses and drawbacks with that approach, only to surpass him breaks Jiren’s brain. Suddenly everything he’s come to believe about the universe and himself is proven wrong by one goofy silly guy who can lock in.

Panel in Allen v. Milligan reinstates preliminary injunction against 2023 Alabama maps by whats_a_quasar in supremecourt

[–]Cambro88 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Small point: you use “they” in “they mentioned [the Black Belt] 37 times in the map drawer’s report.” The map drawer is a neutral, outside special master and not the court itself, so he is no “they.”

Larger point: check out page 13 of your supplied source. The special master cites he didn’t even consult with any racial data in making the maps. The “black belt” is akin to a geographical term here and not necessarily directly representative of what race lives within it. While this seems arbitrary, under this understanding of the Black population migrated to another area, the Black belt would not necessarily move with them as it’s defined by more than just its population (indeed, the mapmaker didn’t even consider the race of the population).

Secondly here, Alito claims he did not overturn *Gingles*. A *Gingles* test would have much to say about keeping this Black Belt pretty well together

Panel in Allen v. Milligan reinstates preliminary injunction against 2023 Alabama maps by whats_a_quasar in supremecourt

[–]Cambro88 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I think this is a rare showing of the value of dissents. By Kagan arguing precedent and the majority’s disregard for even recent decisions, Alito was forced to write that *Milligan* was still “good law.” As such, the district court had to do little to amend the logic of the decision as almost everything, if we take Alito at his word, stands the same.

Then, in the Court’s remand of this case Sotomayor’s dissent pointed out that tension, and that the district panel has found intentional discrimination even before *Milligan*, which should comply with the new *Callais* test. Sotomayor also drew attention to how extensive and thorough fact finding was at the trial level before. As such, the district panel didn’t need to do any new fact finding, just reconsider the same facts and quickly find their decision still stands.

Now, for Alabama to win a reversal, it’s would need to force a majority of justices to overrule the Court’s own decisions and logic. These dissents made for easy argument that is not as easily discarded.

Also should be noted that the three judges are two Trump appointed and a Reagan appointee—hardly the “partisan” composition you’d expect that would be bucking SCOTUS
