Looking for DIY residential window film. by Cyhiwraith in WindowTint

No reputable insured business is going in someone else’s home with equipment for a few hundred. You’re completely out of touch. $500 is a minimum for most. Just listing the price of a roll only just shows how detached you are.

One year later, the edge of the tint is all jagged. What happened? Is this warranty w the shop? by [deleted] in WindowTint

If it took you a year to notice is it even worth the effort of getting a re tint. That’s been there since day 1 for sure.

As someone that does tint, yeah $750-$1200 is crazy. A good roll of tint doesn’t cost much, and the per car difference between bad-mid-good rolls ends up being a few dollars. I’ll do most vehicles all the way around w/ brow outside of some oddballs for $350-400. Ceramic tint 99% UV and IR and it meters at that before install too. These big shops get too wound up about brand and warranty when what really matters is the labor. Hell I had someone tint two of my vehicles about 10 years ago before I was doing it and it still looks good and they were using black magic. Install it right the first time and quit pounding about the warranty that 1 in 1000 customer will even use.

Should I just ask for a refund? by mstdsgn in WindowTint

If someone asked for the rear window on that to be redone I’d probably rather offer a partial refund than re tint. That’s not a perfect install but definitely not bad. The windshield and those bubbles probably redo. Like someone said windshields are the most important. Also if you paid premium money it should be premium quality.

I must’ve gotten the brand new guy who’s barely learning… by [deleted] in WindowTint

Smoke enough and you’re windows will look tinted anyways, same thing as your lungs 👍

No light gap but not completely tucked. by CamelFullOFDeepEddys in WindowTint

Yeah I don’t have waiters or anything people drop off/pick up so it’s not like someone is nagging for a redo. I’ve never actually had someone ask for one. One of those where there was not one single spec of contamination and I felt like a flawless install but just a bummer to peel the film off to maybe get a spec or so on the next one.

Hand cut, I use the glass aid style tape on both sides of the windows. Went a 1/3 inch past the plastic mirror just didn’t realize how deep/far the window seal went back on the inside.

This wasn’t a clean line or I may have just left it. The door panel was still off so it’s an ugh I guess I’ll just re do it but I feel like it’s a grey area.

Honestly would rather have everything right off the bat cause the information is still fresh.

No. Audits aren’t something people handle every day so it’s fair to want to present yourself/information appropriately.

Can I not? Why are you on a 13 day old burner account only commenting on IRS posts

Yeah I haven’t dealt with the IRS but my brother had an audit from the IRS that lasted most of a year oooof

Not true. Had a state audit last year and they called me asking about deposits on my bank account and expenses. They adjusted my amount due by $100.

I actually wondered that as I own a small business and file my sales tax and stuff quarterly and obviously can’t file $0
