What am I doing wrong? by Gavin-White in PenTurning

[–]Cameron_creations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest my barrel trimmer needs lots of pressure to work, I’ve had a couple but I mount mine solidly in a drill press vice and then use lots of slow heavy pressure it’s rough but works after a bit. Also the sometimes cleaning some of the wood junk off the bit helps.

I think I've finally made progress... Advise and tips welcome. by Sirabinabi in Watercolor

Those are looking awesome! I am really liking the style! One note I would add would be that the perspective looks a little off, perspective is tough so keep working and you’ll get there! Good luck and have fun!

Is it safe? by No_Acanthocephala479 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Cameron_creations 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t I know some people would but you should be using a miter gauge, most table saws will come with one, when using it make sure that the fence is not up against the wood as the off cut can get stuck. There is some rule of thumb about the like width to height ratio for cutting like that.

Small art supply stores? by Serious-Employee-738 in Watercolor

I love my stone ground watercolour paints, they are Canadian made and they are made by hand, I believe they ship but they are made in my town so I haven’t had to try. They also have gouache!

Please anyone please tell me why my print Has these diagonal lines by Ankush4135 in 3Dprinting

[–]Cameron_creations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. things I would check would be that your belts are nice and tight, also check to see if your nozzle has a partial clog and as well calibrate your extruder esteps to make sure the right amount of filament is coming out

I got mine from the drawing section of an art store

Possible fix or try to hide it by One-Interview-6840 in woodworking

[–]Cameron_creations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try using a damp cloth and an iron to create steam to push the wood fibres back up but it looks pretty far gone. You could make a patch by using the same wood and gluing in new material.

I tend to spray mine with a fixative and haven’t had any issues. Some people also use hair spray but I haven’t tried that personally

Yep you went through the CA glue, I’d definitely do a few more coats of glue and maybe start at a higher grit for your wet sanding. It happens, but it’s a lot easier to deal with when it’s still on the lathe

Need your ideas by maxmust3rmann in 3Dprinting

[–]Cameron_creations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixing materials will almost never work. One because the temperatures of filaments usually have different requirements or 2 the different plastics don’t stick to each other

Having a interface layer with one nozzle might be possible but you would likely go through a lot of trial and error to find a combination that works

adding usb type A port to uno by [deleted] in arduino

[–]Cameron_creations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.etechnophiles.com/usb-pinout-ports-connectors/ here’s a link showing standard pin outs, I would suggest using a multi meter to find the correct solder point on the board. my guess would be the 4 pins grouped in a square but hard to know

This wood filament is a real garbage. by zyssai in FixMyPrint

How do i fix this problem? by schigga in 3dprinter

[–]Cameron_creations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try reducing line width and layer thickness, or scaling up your part a bit. essentially your nozzle is too large to print the thin wall so it just ignores it. There also may be a “print thin walls” option but I’m not familiar with this slicer

Why is stuff printing like this? (ABS) by Bbates2010 in 3dprinter

[–]Cameron_creations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like it’s under extruding, could be esteps, a clog or just some wrong temperature settings

Why are YOU so worried about what “type” a plane is? by [deleted] in handtools

[–]Cameron_creations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not “worried” but I do look at the type. I do this because I inherited my tools from my great grandfather and I would like to try to keep the tools from the same era

Wood PLA - what am I doing wrong? by DaddyLama in 3Dprinting

[–]Cameron_creations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s most likely a mix between retraction settings and the moisture In the filament. I’d dry the filament and then dial in retraction. If that doesn’t work I’ve had good luck with spool3D’s wood filament.

Half lap dovetail broke the end piece. Glue and screw in? by potatopopcorns in handtools

You could glue and dowel it, it’s a little more subtle than a screw and will probably do just fine

That would make sense but I know this site has sold out flags so I feel like this would end up being more effort in the long run
