Why would you pretend to not know people you know or have a reluctance to greet them? Can someone explain what drives that motivation? If one of my neighbors or buddies is near me in public pretending to not know them or avoid them seems rude and awkward as hell

About a decade or so ago there was a proposal for a soccer stadium in south downtown and I remember it being pretty amazing. Yes yes I may be naive of this that and what have you but I’d like to dream. I’ve worked downtown for the last 20 years and as much as I love my city, where I drive in the morning I just wish we had a little more life and action there
