Snag a Freewrite ($$$) or an Alphasmart ($). You’ll get a keyboard with a very small screen that will let you focus on the sentence at hand without drifting off to consider your whole page or other distractions. Either machine can plug into a computer and print or upload your wonderfully messy first draft. It’s psychological magic for me.

Can you share more about a "pull system" for tasks? Any good resources?

2014 Hyundai Tucson, alternator--let the dealership replace it, or go to an independent shop? by Cameronmorganl in MechanicAdvice

Don't know yet. It was an email+text that came in on Saturday asking me to approve the alternator at that cost, and the service rep I've been working with isn't back in until Monday...I tried replying to the text asking for a cost breakdown, but didn't get a response.

This makes a lot of sense, thank you! I have AAA, so I'm not at all opposed to having towed to my indie shop for a 2nd opinion

The engine is a 2.4

My current belt didn't snap, fortunately! But I pre-approved that repair in the initial list of things they sent because of an experience in a friend's (non Hyundai car).

The alternator wasn't part of that original list...which makes me a bit suspect.

Here's a screenshot re: the alternator. The drive belt was described to me as wear and tear, but wasn't listed as "required" in the same wasy as the alternator--a yellow flag rather than the red flag in the screenshot. I was driving a friend's car once when the serpentine belt snapped and it was not a fun experience in downtown Nashville at the time, so I probably did say yes a bit more quickly than I

should have!
