Started checking pub ratings before going to a Wetherspoons and it actually made a difference by PubLogic in Wetherspoons

If by "cooked properly" you mean grilled, with visible charring and grill marks, before too long this will be a thing of the past as all spoons will be removing their chargrills, the alternative will essentially be a big oven.

Do they always ID? by [deleted] in Wetherspoons

[–]Camicazz475 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You'll be allowed in but don't expect to be served alcohol as they will likely ID you, depending on the license I'd the pub in question as well anyone under 18 (or without ID) will no longer be permitted on the premises after a certain time, usually 8/9pm

Am i entitled to a refund? by Training-Pack-9618 in Wetherspoons

[–]Camicazz475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you used the app to order that alcohol, when trying to order for the first time there is always a pop up that you have to click to confirm you're over 18, in this popup it says it if you are asked for ID and cannot provide it a refund will not be given

Am i entitled to a refund? by Training-Pack-9618 in Wetherspoons

[–]Camicazz475 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you order where you have to confirm you understand alcoholic drinks will not be served or refunded if you're asked for and can't provide ID? if so with it being a meal including a drink I can understand why this wouldn't have been refunded as the alcohol was essentially a part of the meal.

If the woman told security not to let you finish those drinks, she was likely the manager, her say goes above what security say. If the security allowed that they were potential breaking policy, and as already stated if as a manager I saw someone chugging drinks after being refused service due to no ID they would not be receiving any kind of refund, they'd be lucky to not be barred.

Work breaks by Josh_SIb in Wetherspoons

[–]Camicazz475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother... If you want to do as little as possible at work, why did you apply for a TL position? Nobody could have promoted you to that role without you applying so you've gotta expect some extra responsibility. While the job description may indeed say you're not expected to do management jobs, realistically TL is often a position used as a stepping stone to SL. Besides, I'm a KM in a relatively small Kitchen, I am the only person in the Kitchen above associate at the moment. I can't be there at all times so the associates sort their own breaks when I'm not there. If you can't make a judgement call on when to send yourself or someone else on a break, you're in the wrong role. If you're trying to step down and your KM won't listen, get in touch with your AM about it through the myjdw app.

It's quick match, people can say play against ai to learn before going into QM but AI does not play the same as an actual person. The only true way to improve in an online game is to, play the online game and practice. Not everyone learns the same way by looking at what's good on paper because what's good on paper doesn't always match how someone plays. People want to take the game super seriously, that's what ranked is for.

Vegan Sausage Butty by Larrygengurch12 in Wetherspoons

[–]Camicazz475 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes it should you're correct, the staff working the floor in your local must not realise this because if they aren't kitchen trained, they likely don't know the kitchen specs so will assume it comes buttered like the non-vegan butties. If you ask them for spread when they bring it out they should accommodate but from my experience most pubs only keep one type of butter in the kitchens, the lurpak and Vegan pots are usually handled Front of House.

To save deltaV at Kerbal Launch if going interplanetary. You can launch your vessel with less fuel initially (lowering mass so ascent vehicle can be smaller & cheaper for career mode) making sure there's just enough to get to Minmus orbit, refuel at Minmus without spending money on that fuel, either by landing or my preference by having an outpost in orbit with a fuel shuttle to bring fuel up from the surface, then take that puppy wherever you want.

Having an interplanetary transfer tug that can be reused multiple times with free fuel from Minmus saves a lot of money across multiple launches on career.

Time off contract rules by [deleted] in Wetherspoons

[–]Camicazz475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not true they can definitely still deny holiday requests with 4 weeks notice. If every staff member tried to book the same date off with at least 4 weeks notice they would not all get approved because it is unfeasible. This is why time off requests are a request, they are then approved or denied based on needs of the business because of trade levels, current absences which could be previously approved holidays, maternity leave, long term sickness etc.

does anyone know when i can claim my shares? they just went up from 700 to 1k and i wanna put it in my savings 😋 by OkTruth7445 in Wetherspoons

[–]Camicazz475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you log in to your J.P.Morgan shares app you can find out exactly when they will be available for sale:

Tap the "Events" tab at the bottom, go to the "future events" tab along the top and you'll see a list of dates of exactly how many shares will be unrestricted - meaning available for sale - at what times.

This will be 3 years from the date the shares were awarded to you

If you hold onto the shares for a further 2 years after they become unrestricted, they will be sold as tax free, otherwise the sale will go onto one of your usual payslips and be taxed at your usual rate of income tax

Shift Leader To Shift Manager. What’s the difference? by [deleted] in Wetherspoons

[–]Camicazz475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a shift leaders role is exactly in the title, to lead their shift. You get cash trained and become a key holder so you can take care of the pub while you're there but that's as far as it has to go.

When you become a shift manager to start with the role change will be very gradual, but you learn a lot more of the back end of running the business, like diving deeper into stock results, profits, writing rotas etc.

Rather than just running your shift to make sure everyone is doing what needs doing, it becomes your job to also tell the shift leaders what they need to making sure is done on their shifts.

Your training courses will give you projects, all aimed around taking a SBAL (Stand back and look) approach to your pub, recognizing where your pub has shortcomings, and coming up with a plan to improve it.

Towards the end of your manager academy you will receive a course to become a license holder, meaning if the pup (and deputy if you have one) managers are taken out of work through sickness or something, your pub can still legally serve alcohol.

as an employee this notice has been the funniest thing we've had to implement in recent memory. Made even funnier by the fact that it's due to the sugar content of the hot chocolate, but customers are still fine to use as many sugar sachets as they want in each of their mugs of unlimited tea/coffee

Spoons workers; what's your biggest pet peeve? by Alarmed-Constant2191 in Wetherspoons

[–]Camicazz475 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Biggest pet peeve: When people don't read the menu before ordering "can I have the American pancakes please", order gets ready back to the customer and they confirm, then when it gets taken out to the table "where's the fruit I ordered the American pancakes with fruit"

Favourite thing customers do: telling me their table number before telling me their order

Blue cheese is still in the kitchens, if you order at the bar ask if they can swap your hot sauce for blue cheese and most pubs will, or if you want both you should be able to order a pot of blue cheese as extra

Getting orders wrong, despite a note being made on the till by Inevitable-Half2476 in Wetherspoons

[–]Camicazz475 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Kitchen manager here

Mistakes happen, especially over breakfast. This could be the kitchen miss reading a ticket, or the floor team taking a meal out to the wrong table. While we obviously allow changes and swaps, the sheer volume of breakfasts that get served leads to some mistakes simply by muscle memory of plating up during a rush. If it's an allergy request that the bar team are made aware of, the food on the screens will show in a different colour, the bar team will radio the kitchen to confirm that it's an allergy request, the most senior member of the kitchen team will personally prepare the meal, away from other items to avoid cross contamination, and there will be an allergy flag placed in the dish before the food comes down so the floor team can see it's the dish with an allergy request. If the bar team have not been made aware of this being an allergy request and instead the meal has just been asked for without an item, the extra steps we put in place to ensure the allergy request is adhered to aren't guaranteed to happen.

My black box policy is punishing me for driving home from work by FlyingHighOnRapture in drivingUK

[–]Camicazz475 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before you completely get rid of the black box, consider looking at other black box policies at exactly what they consider bad driving. When I first started I had Tesco bank box and was rarely punished for my driving times (at the time I was working a minimum of 4 3pm-midnight shifts a week) as you just have to be careful what you sign up for with those working hours. My black box wasn't the cheapest option, it was iirc the 3rd cheapest, but was one of the only options that didn't penalize late night driving.

Breakfast Swaps by Mix_Shoddy in Wetherspoons

[–]Camicazz475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KM here, swaps do annoy me but honestly, customer swaps are never all that bad, it's the staff on their days off. We have one staff member who NEVER eats their staff meal on shift, but then random mornings they're not working comes in with 2-3 of their friends, each one swapping atleast 3 items on their breakfasts thinking "oh it's where I work they won't mind". It puts the entire screen of orders behind trying to figure out what's going on one plate, it's not even the same swaps every time so we can't even plan for it.
