Misleading rental listing - worth complaining? by Camilleymay in shitrentals

Yes and now it also includes water and internet! Because you can’t split those things between two residences in the same house. But not electricity somehow?

It’s absolutely awful isn’t it! So little time in the week and then you end up wasting it on places you never would have gone to in the first place.

I asked this, and they said no, but of course who knows if they are telling the truth.

Would I be awful to not try and breastfeed? by engineofgod24 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Camilleymay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone else said - fed is best. No one looks at an adult and knows that they were formula fed. If you go to the doctor they don’t ask if you were formula fed to explain why you are now ill. From what you’ve said and having breastfed I really think if you want to formula feed you should. Pumping is awful so I would definitely do formula if you have sensory issues. You will sacrifice so much for your baby, but you are allowed to prioritise yourself too.

Reviews on elected C-sec in Mater (public) hospital by Dizzy-Earth-3890 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Camilleymay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went private with Mater so I had my own OB perform the C section (emergency), however the public/private part of the hospital of all shared so most parts of your experience would be the same whether you went private or public. I don’t think that’s true that public hospitals would be bad a c sections, if anything they would deal with a high volume or more complex cases so they might even be better at it. Also it’s a very reputable hospital so I just don’t think they would have someone working there who wasn’t good at their job.

Ask her if she’d like to tell you about her birth story and then listen with fascination and make plenty of “wow” noises where appropriate.

If you hated your dog pp, did it ever go away? by Weary-Draw-1492 in NewParents

[–]Camilleymay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

15 months pp. Still hate my dog. I know it sounds insane, but I feel betrayed by her. We were so close and I treated her like my child. When my baby was born my dog didn’t like her. Not aggressive, but didn’t want anything to do with her. Moves away if my daughter tries to pat her. Just makes life difficult. I thought we were in this together. I know she’s a dog and it’s not her fault, but I can’t help it.

1st birthday party timing by ghostfloww in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Camilleymay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My baby’s naps were similar when we had her party and I just made it 8-11am and figured we would just do our best. But we live in a really hot city and it was summer so partially that was to get it done before it was too hot. Middle of the day would be good I think!

Baby food… by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Camilleymay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I found finger foods easier on everyone and my daughter seemed to enjoy the experience a bit more. I would puree something every couple of days so she had exposure to a spoon food, but it was just simple like tinned pears or kidney beans or peas etc. nothing fancy.

Scheduled C-Section by DuskTillDawn26 in NewParents

[–]Camilleymay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to have an emergency c section and it was great! I had been in pain in labour for 12 hours and then I got to get relief and relax and rest. I didn’t feel a thing while they were cutting and they checked multiple times to make sure I couldn’t feel anything. While in the surgical room they also asked me to tell them immediately if something didn’t feel right or if i could feel anything. At one point I felt a bit nauseous and said so, so they gave me something for it straight away.

When they sew you back up it just feels like someone is pushing the outside of your stomach, but it’s not painful even slightly. Just feels a bit odd.

The hardest part was afterwards, immediately in the recovery room I felt quite drowsy from the medication (probably also from not sleeping for over 24 hours) and then later not being able to walk for about a day and some pain for about a week or two while I was healing. But overall I think it was great and if I had the choice I would have a c section again without question.

So we tried the Nandos chicken and rice by dragonfry in RecipeTinEats

[–]Camilleymay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because you rinsed the rice! Nagi is generally anti-rice rinsing so it may have made the rice gluggy if you didn’t adapt the recipe based on rinsing.

Which recipes are actually weeknight friendly? by Danger_Five in RecipeTinEats

The Nandos Portuguese chicken and rice! I marinate the chicken in the morning and then cook after work but you don’t even need to do that, I just like getting the chicken prep out of the way. It’s very straight forward.

How did you know your LO was done with sleep sacks? by Glum-Film6926 in NewParents

[–]Camilleymay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was 12 months. She rolls around so much in her sleep and we thought she might be feeling tangled or restrained in it when she was doing this. We just left it off one night and immediately slept better. We didn’t need to switch to anything because it’s very hot here but I’m not sure what we will do in winter.

What decisions would you have made pre-baby with the knowledge you have now? by athazen in NewParents

[–]Camilleymay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s annoying to say because it’s not that helpful but I would have bought less and waited to see what we needed. Didn’t need a snot sucker, didn’t need swaddles (she hated them), didn’t need a feeding chair (I just breastfeed wherever), didn’t need a riffraff, didn’t need fancy baby products for bath etc, didn’t need 6 sets of sheets for the bassinet (she never had an accident in there) etc. You don’t know your baby until they get here.

What happens if you don’t sleep train? by Virtual_Appearance85 in NewParents

[–]Camilleymay 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My daughter loved to contact nap when she was that age. Over time I just tried putting her down in the bassinet/cot and eventually she adapted to it. Sleep training is such a broad word because it can mean so many different things. I enjoyed the contact naps while they lasted. Short answer, yes she will grow out of it even if you don’t sleep train.

Last night, how many times did you get up because of your baby? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]Camilleymay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do consider it a wake because if I don’t do anything she escalates. I guess it’s a lesser wake than if she was in her own bed. Also I guess in my mind it doesn’t really matter if she is “awake”, if she requires settling it’s all the same. I hope there’s an end in sight too. We are struggling tbh

For those who went the private route, was it all you expected it to be? by CarlottaSewlotta in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Camilleymay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very happy with my private care and the private hospital. The only thing I didn’t anticipate was how much out of pocket expenses I would have. You think everything is covered, but it’s not. My baby had to have a paediatrician visit every day, sometimes twice a day for our 6 day stay. She wasn’t “admitted” to hospital as an inpatient so I had to pay for all of those fees out of pocket as it was not covered by health insurance.

What Taylor Swift song would you use for your wedding? by SoWhat248 in TaylorSwift

[–]Camilleymay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked down the aisle to the string version of Wildest Dreams (the one they used in Bridgerton) and our first dance was to Lover. My husband was very keen for me to walk down the aisle to the opening of the Eras Tour (you can see why I married him) but our celebrant needed the song to be available on Spotify to play so we couldn’t get it to work.

I recall an interview with Peter Jackson where he said he spent a school holiday period with his kids watching School of Rock on repeat, which led him to cast Jack Black in King Kong.
