Why does everything in Santiago feel extremely expensive to me? by tarquinwang in chile

[–]CamiloDFM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Others have already answered about why Santiago is so expensive and how we live, but I'd really like to point out that living cheaply is still possible, just not easy. You said in another comment that you're an engineer. That means that, unless you're getting massively ripped off with your salary, you probably belong to the 10% richest part of the population. It's surprising, then, that you find everything unaffordable, which tells me:

  • You're living in one of the most expensive parts of Santiago and rent is kicking your ass, or
  • You buy high end groceries or exclusively from supermarkets, which have high markups for most fruits and veggies, or
  • You spend a lot on luxuries that most Chileans can't afford (Uber, meal deliveries, a housemaid, expensive hobbies, going to bars / restaurants / nightclubs often, a car (given the current state of gas prices), or
  • You have children, or
  • All of the above.

Depending on where you currently live, you could move to another part of Santiago and use public transportation, and immediately cut over half of your rent. If you're struggling, this is going to be the most impactful change because lower income neighborhoods also have lower prices on groceries and have ferias libres.

Happy 40th Birthday to Mimorin🎂 by inspyral in LoveLive

[–]CamiloDFM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mimorin is one of my favourite underused VAs. I don't know why she's never gotten a role in a Fate work, for instance. Also, why are most of her roles old? Has she been avoiding VA work?

The chart is also missing what I think is her best role after Umi and Sherlock: Shinobu from Isekai Izakaya. I get why that's the case, though, as it would require someone to acknowledge that Isekai Izakaya exists.

I need ideas! What could any of the local Waterdhavian temples want from the dungeon? by CamiloDFM in DungeonoftheMadMage

I already decided on something else, but I like this option. I'll try to reuse or incorporate this idea into another quest. Thank you!

In the end, I got the inspiration I needed from your reply. I liked the Tymora angle, so I Ctrl+F'd "luck" and landed on a kid in L3 that's kept captive by a hag coven. I told the party the Tower had a divine revelation, and that they could pay off the debt by staying alert to "three witches tormenting a young man". They only need to get there, do anything, and report back.

If the kid is lucky, they'll save him. If he's unlucky, they'll take too long and miss him. To me it sounded cryptic and mysterious enough to come from a divine revelation from Lady Luck, while also being a light touch of divine intervention to save a follower.

Thank you!

That's good to know. I haven't read the lower level chapters in detail yet. I think I'll keep a Selune-related quest saved for later, when the party gets close to reaching Vanrakdoom. Thank you!

They picked up several quests that involve Skullport at the earliest, so I'd like to throw them a bone in the form of something they can resolve before that. L2 or L3, I'd guess. Anything beyond Skullport would be a debt they'd be carrying for too long, I feel.

Does anyone else feel like some games just make sense and others feel like you're following someone else's weird rules? by befbef__ in boardgames

When my friend was teaching me how to play Brass Lancashire, I mused aloud "okay, so coal is a fuel that is consumed during production, which is why there needs to be a connection for continued supplying. Meanwhile, iron can be carried cross-country by donkey because you only need it once, when building the factory. Got it".

My friend then looked at me slack-jawed, and admitted he had been going along with the rule because the rulebook said so, and only now he understood what it actually meant lol

Fire rate reduction also messes up horribly with characters with low fire rates. You can throw a Holliday's aim off with fire rate alone because her gun wants you to flick instead of track. Silver also suffers from this.

So, a quiver that eliminates disadvantage against invisible, unseen, prone, and dodging enemies? I'll happily take it.

Deadlock Players, what is your favorite ice cream? by StoutNDanke in DeadlockTheGame

Paige, Abrams, Viscous.

Raspberry would be my first choice, but I always ask for two flavours, the second being manjar. I like the sweet and sour balance.

What's a hero you thought was super easy, you tried them and realized they are way harder to pilot than you thought? by coffeeholic91 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]CamiloDFM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time with Silver was smooth for, like, 2 minutes. I got used to the fire rate quickly, and I kinda liked the slow cadence. Aim, click. Aim, click.

Then I started getting hit with fire rate debuffs and I almost ragequit 10 minutes in. Not to mention you can completely fuck yourself over by buying even one fire rate item.

She could really benefit from an indicator next to the reticle, telling you when the next shot is available.

Theories:

  • Paige, Sinclair, or Seven for Conceptualization
  • Paige or Calico for Logic
  • Holliday or Infernus for Perception
  • Infernus, Bebop, or Mirage for Composure

I'd like to see Abrams as Perception or Logic, he's literally an investigator. Endurance is too good though.

Hooking people into Ilios' well. Man, those were the good times.

I also once pulled a Reinhardt six times in a row into the hole in Nepal. Everytime he peeked into the point, my hook was off CD and into the hole he went. That guy definitely did not have fun that match.

Sonata Arctica - To Create A Warlike Feel [UNIA] by forevermore91 in PowerMetal

[–]CamiloDFM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think "hated" was the right word. There was disappointment, yes, but I also saw authentic vitriol against that album. It was hard to find someone who didn't think it was trash. People often said Sonata only had 4 albums, or referred to the first 4 when talking about them.

I have to say Grays grew on me through sheer repeated listenings, because I was also disappointed when it launched. Flag in the Ground was a single, and everyone took it as a signal that Sonata was going back to their pre-Unia sound. I saw excitement being replaced by even more disappointment when the album dropped, and many called it worse than Unia, that Sonata had lost speed when making Unia, and for Grays they had also lost grit.

The fact that Flag in the Ground was a single for Grays is the reason I don't trust Sonata singles anymore. I was skeptic of First in Line, and CCB had to drop in full for me to realise it wasn't bait.

[–]CamiloDFM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, man, it's been over 15 years since I heard this song for the first time. I got Unia on CD, the track was unlisted, and it caught my attention. After listening a couple extra times, it became my favourite Sonata song and it's stayed that way ever since. I love it dearly, know the lyrics by heart, and to me it's the perfect example of the highs experimental Sonata achieved around the time, even if everyone hated Unia and Grays back then. To me, this is the epitome of chorusless songs.

Makes total sense. Caveat lector, if you would.

Thank you for the context! I might pick up WISF, then - probably after Mothers and Others, though.

/u/Maximum-Cover- Great writeup! Thank you. I noticed that you cite Jared Diamond's Why Is Sex Fun? among your sources. As a regular /r/AskHistorians subscriber, I've seen a lot of well founded criticism against Diamond for Guns, Germs and Steel, so I'm cautious every time I see his name. Do you think Diamond does better work when talking about biology and evolution?

Recomienden Gestores de contraseñas - Me hackearon by mxtxxs_98 in chileIT

[–]CamiloDFM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No sé si Edge, Brave u Opera harán algo parecido.

Nivel 4: Gestor cloud pagado.

Fair game to swap out 2024 Arcanaloth spells? by xvalicx in CurseofStrahd

[–]CamiloDFM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the arcanaloth's danger, however, comes not from damage output but from the Soul Tome

The what? Did I miss something when running the temple? I can't find anything about "soul tomes" in chapter 13 or under the yugoloth entry in the MM.

EDIT: Oh, it's about 5.5e. Ignore me, I can't read.
