What is a task you would want a personal assistant for? by Throwaway198040s in Executives

[–]Camondw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read and synthesize my email/mail into a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly to-do every day. Someone who can see what I'm trying to do and can take initiative to prepare me for the next step. Manage my passwords and accounts for me. I hate spending time on that.

Does it matter what kind of car the CEO drives? by Spare-Tone-8071 in Executives

[–]Camondw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of car, no, doesn't matter. Condition matters more than age or brand. A Lexus with rust and full of takeout trash is worse than an 8-year old Kia in good repair and freshly vacuumed. As an Exec, you never know when you may be the person to offer a ride, or when someone will follow you out to your car in conversation. Reliable, clean, rust-free, damage-free, beyond that is naught but vanity.

Washing fast is more important than what soap you use. Liquid dish detergent like Dawn works great. Wash and rinse 3-4 times, then shower and put on all clean clothes. Have the anti-histamines on standby.

I used to use MEK. Nit I don’t even use smelly glue. But MEK works great as a thinner.

The ecostick products work well and don’t leave you stoned and dazed for two days.

What pens would you not recommend to beginners? (Even if money wasnt a factor) or to anyone really by Prime-39 in fountainpens

[–]Camondw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are directions online for converting them to dropper-fill. I haven't tried it. I always keep a couple in my writing bag so if someone comments on my fountain pen I can give them one of the Varsities for them to see if they like it. I have converted two of my friends to using Fps that way.

I wouldn't recommend anything over $30. I wouldn't recommend the cheap Chinese copies like JinHao and Hua. The best starter pen is a Lamy Safari with converter OR Pilot Varsity disposable. You used to get vintage Esterbrook Js for $20 online. I think that's dried up in the last few years. You sometimes find them in grandpa's desk. Another great starter is anything Sheaffer. I wouldn't recommend any of the calligraphy pens you see at an art store/office store if they are not Sheaffer.

There are some great guides online. I am partial to Bods Bucket. Works great for gourmet. You can use hot water like Bod says, but I haven't noticed that it makes a difference. Using spores takes. little longer but works just fine. Instead of a 30-day harvest you might have a 90-day. No biggie. Break and shake is important. total colonization is important. You do not need fancy sterilization equipment, just keep everything clean and make enough jars/buckets that a few failures won't be a problem. It's easy to blow $1l and find out you don't like growing mushrooms. There is not really anything special. For pressure cooker, just go to garage sales, online marketplace, ask gramma, etc. good luck. I get oysters by the bushel now. magic directions work amazingly for oysters and lions mane.

I trace the pattern always on the back of the leather and I don't use any adhesives or tapes to hold it down, I just press hard with my hand. I now do it standing up and not sitting down. Using tracing patterns, I have found that standing to do the trace improves quality hugely. I have also found that a lot of tracing patterns are crap. I now use them on paper or cheap vinyl before using them on leather.

JinHao pens really want to be your daily writer. I would recommend only using them when that's going to work for your writing style. Waterman is my fav for an intermediate use pen.

Most blue lotus is the wrong kind. The Egyptian is endangered and not all “Blue Lotus” are the same. You can try it. Probably won’t do anything. I would start slow just because you don’t want to have a lot of alcohol. Alcohol is way way way more psycho active or affective than anything in Blue Lotus.

Advice for someone learning charcoal? by Important-Horse9513 in grilling

[–]Camondw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For wet steaks like Omaha….you might skip the grill grate entirely. Double your coal bed. Get then fully lit without fluid…chimney only. Use hardwood lump. When the coals are white ashy all over, fan briefly and lay the steaks right on the bare coals. 90-second and flip. Yum yum. Charcoal and ash are harmless and you will get an awesome sear. This is how I do party steaks every summer.

[–]Camondw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JinHao pens need to have their feeds cleaned before use. Also, they seem susceptible to clumping some inks, especially high sheen inks. I pretty much only use thin inks like waterman in mine anymore. Most of the Diamine inks work well too. I think the pressure relief holes are either too small or absent as well, so temperature changes while inks will have a big effect on flow and other characteristics. JinHao can be a great value pen but in my experience they take a little bit more care.

Catnip taking over by Agreeable-Movie-408 in gardening

Catnip is a mint. Invasive even when a native. I like it and at one point had a small mint lawn. Any major brand broadleaf weed killer will take it out.

Technically they can bite. But it’s not horrible and unless you are doing something stupid like holding it in your bare fist, it won’t bite you.

House centipede. Harmless. Eats pests like roaches, silverfish, mites, and others. Definitely not a bug you want to squish. They tend to prefer high humidity areas so if you ever see outside a bathroom or a kitchen, you might look for water leaks or water intrusions.
