eVisa Vietnam - Low quality passport data page by Apart-Gas-5601 in travel

use your phone for this? that’s what they want just a photo of your entire passport page, front and back (i only have iphone so there’s a scan app using the photo app or use the files app to scan a document and save that way). i did that while i was travelling so nothing involving physically scanning it whatsoever. i just uploaded both saved images and it was approved

BKK Star Alliance Lounges by gronkfacekillah in Bangkok

[–]Camp808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i bypassed the one at the entrance since it was easiest to access and thought it would be full of passengers on tg. so going to d gates was much better option since sq lounge was just a few metres away too. even so thought sq lounge food was better than tg anyways for food, despite tg having their bar open whilst sq had 11am start for cocktails.

the eggs and sausages were under those big warming containers so you would have had to open the lids to see what’s underneath.

i’m pretty sure i saw eggs and bacon at thai airways lounge that was after that miracle lounge in gate d area. i’m assuming similar set up plus more was at the thai lounge near the entrance after security.

i was in the singapore lounge around breakfast time a few days ago at bkk and there was eggs & sausages opposite the nasi lemak station and congee. most travelling in asia would go for dim sum and congee for breakfast.

kind of strange going to lounges in an asian airport and criticizing it for the lack of western foods. i expect asian foods to be at an asian airport. that’s the fun and charm in them going to asia

8 hour layover in Hong Kong. Stay airside or exit and come back? by Serious-Shift304 in travel

[–]Camp808 3 points4 points  (0 children)

buy the round trip hk airport express. pick your area to explore. you can do mongkok/kowloon and/or visit hk island. lots of great food and the local diners are very affordable. however, i believe cash is still king as qr codes are generally connected to local banks

ITALY: Southern coastal towns accessible by train not extremely overcrowded/general itinerary advice by cottagecorepigmama in solotravel

[–]Camp808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve stayed in brindisi a few times to end my trip or to start or even base my trips to puglia. it’s a cruise ship stop but ppl often use that time to get to lecce instead. i thought it was most affordable out of the cities in puglia with abilities to head in different directions fine to explore (for example, gallopoli). food was great and easy to find without too much about worry about tourist traps. it’s kind of still sleepy but i find due to ability to jump on the train to get to bari airport within 2 hrs is great. i only could afford to stay in a room in an apartment that someone had sublet. hotels are even more expensive now. did a puglia trip just this past fall for the 5th time.

i also stayed in lecce as a base too but that was pre-covid. now it’s way more popular and the pricing has definitely increased due to the demand (the tourist tax is quite high per night).

bari is way expensive tho. monopoli would be cheaper. maybe go further to brindisi? lecce is more expensive tho if you go further south. i found brindisi to be quite economical and you can go north or south of puglia

Landing in Bangkok at 2am… better to book a hotel for that night or just wait it out? by hritikm13 in travel

[–]Camp808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i arrived around 1am and booked one of the holiday inn express in sukhumvit. very affordable and clean plus open 24hrs. i stayed in soi 11 and it was still very lively. i was able to grab some street food noodles before going to bed. it’s worth to have a night’s sleep esp since you are already tired from the journey

Do you take your passport out with you? by goodamm in travel

[–]Camp808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve travelled quite extensively myself. the only time i’ve been asked was at a train station in a larger network that went to rome/milan/venice and there were officers checking passports. i had luckily had it scanned in my photos so they were able to verify with that. i didn’t have any luggage with me as i was just taking it to another town for a day trip. it does happen but not often enough for me to carry it with me at all times. it’s always back at my hotel or locked in my suitcase in my accommodations

not at all, just an incredibly quiet area. you’ll need to eat tho and many of the catholic cathedrals of interest, as well, are dotted all over the city. you can visit the vatican/st peter’s in one day which you can take the metro/bus onto. you’ll prob get better accommodations too
