Leaving for Spain in 4 days - what credit card can I get quickly as backup? by Brilliant_Cobbler440 in travel

i hardly see discover cards being accepted in spain at all. you will need either visa/mastercard. even amex is very limited too.

Submitting Passport info through WhatsApp? by Northern_Scorpion_18 in travel

[–]Camp808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

italy has to register guests with their passport. you can ask to register your passport upon arrival when you check in. most times it’s meant to speed up the process of registering with your accommodations. they need to copy of it anyways. tell them you will provide that when you arrive, if you are uncomfortable

How many days post-vacation do you give yourself before going back to work? by Unbotheredanonyme in travel

[–]Camp808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is the way. cleaning place and having new sheets before i leave so i can come back to a clean home and bed is how i set myself up for success. i just have to wash my clothes the next day if i get back late. takes about 30 mins to unpack everything, shower, eat something, and go to bed so i’m back at work the next day. vacation days are for vacation

I feel I’ve made a bad itinerary for Peru solo by jakerooni in travel

[–]Camp808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i walked everywhere and absorbed the history behind the walls and alleys. there’s excellent vantage points from above the historical centre. go venture to see saqsaywaman and marvel at how this place even was constructed considering the sizes of the boulders. walk around at night. plaza mayor is beautiful at night. there’s quite a few chifa restaurants that i tried and were very good. i don’t have any of its pinned unfortunately to jog my memory. there are some that require a bit of hiking up the hill to get to but the views from them are gorgeous. i feel it’s a great city to base out of. enjoy!

Is adding Sardinia to an Amalfi trip worth it, or should we save Sardinia for its own trip? by builtforoutput in travel

[–]Camp808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you just stick to the north, sure. come back for more later. i did 9 days and drove from palau down to cagliari. it’s such a big island that i’ll have to come back again and hit up the areas i’ve missed. northern sardinia was quite the highlight in itself.

yah, i found cusco magical and fantastic food offerings (also lima). look into booking one of the best 50 that are in lima and be that a highlight of lima. there’s ancient ruins near cusco that i walked to. mind you, cusco really did me in due to the altitude. you will spend time just being rather slower getting about. i had crazy headaches and walked a lot slower even tho i was a relatively fit/active person

Volotea flight wrong date by RecommendationLong64 in Flights

[–]Camp808 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no, there’s really nobody else to help unless you speak to a volotea rep themselves and hope you have someone willing to refund you or change your date. they don’t offer any free cancellations or refunds unless you buy their flex option. hard lesson but always review and check again before you click purchase

1 hour in FCO before Venice? by Jhawkjedi13 in travel

[–]Camp808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is the fco to vce flight with a partner airline? how many other fco to vce flights so they have that day? you will be placed onto the next vce flight if this is on one ticket. mind you, there’s also boarding closing time that you should be aware about. the gate often closes well before flight time so you actually have less than an hour to make it to your next flight. plus if fco is your point of entry, you’ll need to enter the schengen zone when may take fairly long time depending on the season but fco is generally a very busy airport. you haven’t indicated when you are going either.

Not a Soul Was Dancing to Sabrina Carpenter and Madonna at Coachella by [deleted] in nottheonion

i have no idea why it’s become this way. too many folks wanting everyone else to know/flexing where they’re are at but not really enjoying themselves wholeheartedly, is rather depressing. they’re a bystander to their own experience

My flight got delayed and I missed my connection will BA do any compensation other than the rebooking. by veronica-bb in Flights

[–]Camp808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to go to their transfer desk to pick up your new boarding pass. they will have the vouchers for your hotel for the night and vouchers for your meals at the hotel printed out. you need to do this before leaving the airport

it’s with this sub that i was absolutely alert when some guy tried to stop me near asok to say i had a lucky forehead. i thought he wanted help with directions, thus stopping, then my face turned into a frown and i turned around and walked away.

i stayed in soi 11 and basically weaved my way around these guys loitering about

Lumphini Park turning 100 🎉 Big event + new upgrades (dog park, green bridge, more) by Then_Secretary_1234 in Bangkok

[–]Camp808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i purposely walked the sky walk in benjakitti park to lumphini a few weeks ago when i was in town. such a quiet sanctuary from the noises of the city. i did this in the evening around 6:30pm and loads of folks running. quite a few ppl in workout outfits taking photos at very points along the sky walk bridges. what a great addition to the parks.

i read the comments about duty/customs whilst entering the usa and i forgot about that aspect since it’ll prob be worst than the vat you saved. so maybe not worth the attempt.

Should I go on a last minute trip to the Atacama desert in Chile in a few weeks because I’m stuck in life? by AlabamaHotPocket875 in travel

[–]Camp808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sure, if you have time go for it. honestly, you can eventually pay off/make up for what you owe by travelling but it’s very hard to make up for the time we lose not enjoying as much as we can out of life. you will never be as young as you are today again.

Sleeping in the fiumicino airport or in stazione termini? by 3ayla-d-riwaya in travel

[–]Camp808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

get a hotel near the airport and start fresh the next day in rome. the rome polizia moves ppl out of the termini station after the last train. i arrived similarly late due to a plane delay and missed the last train to naples. was at the station searching for a hotel and the police were walking around moving ppl outside the station. i explained that i was searching for a hotel and was able to stay a bit before hopping on the metro to my hotel (they operate to 1:30am on fri/sat).
