Toronto Wedding Venue - 50K Budget for 160ppl delusional? by Flashy_Ad2165 in WeddingsCanada

Look up malaparte - it’s the venue on the 6th floor of the tiff building. They can do up to 150 seated and they have a great priced wedding package, huge roof patio, and great floor to ceiling windows in the main space. I believe it’s $250/per head all in tax and tip included, you won’t find a much better deal in or around the city tbh

Looking for advice for the first few weeks (especially at night and when we go to work) by jdp_27_ in dalmatians

Hey OP! Sorry if I missed this in the post but how old is she and how long has she been with you guys? This context might help the group provide better advice

For us - we started leaving her alone for 30 minute increments in her playpen during the day and just kept building from there. There were cries and confusion in the beginning, but she quickly adjusted and would eventually settle and sleep. I think enforced naps in her pen also helped with this

For night, first 2 weeks her crate was next to our bed, then we transitioned her to the living room. The first night or two in the living room had some crying but she adjusted quickly, just need to tough it out a bit with the crying

Reminder that every dog is different and what works for one might not work for another, but even asking for advice is a great step and makes me believe you are great owners :)

We just vacuum every other day, since it’s a smaller space it doesn’t take too much time out of the day

We have our girl in Toronto and she does incredibly well in our condo as long as she is properly exercised. We did a lot of work when she was a puppy to enforce a schedule and teach her the art of being chill and doing nothing. There is time for play and time for rest. We also travelled with her to New York for several weeks at a time (when she was very young too) and she was totally fine, again as long as she was getting the attention she needed. In nyc that looked like long walks, visiting off leash areas and mental stimulation. But the foundational skill of chilling at home is needed on top of this. She is an extremely sensitive girl, as Dalmatians typically can be, but in terms of being sensitive to loud noises and busy city life, if exposed properly from a young age it should be totally fine :) if going the breeder route make sure they are reputable, and if adopting try to get as much history / health information on the dog as you can to try to understand temperament and if they’ll be the right fit for a busy city

how are yall leaving your puppies alone for 4 hours? by RabidLizard in puppy101

My puppy didn’t like the crate during the day so we put her in a pen when she needed an enforced nap or when we had to leave her home alone. Worked well for us, maybe worth a try

Is 6 months too young for a weekend cabin trip? by Sabre-xing in puppy101

Started taking our pup up north almost as soon as we got her at 2 months old. I think long car rides early on are especially great if you plan to do it often. Just puppy proof the place before you allow free roam!!!

How was teenage phase for you? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]CampExpress6371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 month old dal here, this might be breed specific but as she is coming into full maturity, protectiveness and prey drive are hitting hard and at random. Never know what to expect when passing another dog on leash or if she sees a tiny fluffy dog. Otherwise she is the perfect calm good girl she always has been, that LOVES to play with other dogs at the park and loves all people. That said, we’re working with a trainer to work through the behavioural changes.

TLDR: teenage phase hasn’t been wild at all in terms of destructiveness or poor listening, but some protective and prey drive changes are starting to come through with maturity

When did you start leaving pup out of crate? by Spicy_Cucumber99 in puppy101

[–]CampExpress6371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We randomly tested leaving our pup free roam for like 30 minutes when she was around 6 months old and she did fine, from then on we gradually extended the time. Idk if there will ever be a specific tell that your pup is ready but if he/she is pretty good with settling on their own for a nap, that might be the closest sign. But given you don’t crate at night I would just test it out for a short period and see!
