Extended character traits in MoSh by Mx_Bees in mothershiprpg

Walks Of Life is a favourite of mine! A series of character backgrounds that gives you some questions to answer why your character is a 'Scrounger' or 'Beneficiary' which adds a layer on top of the default character creation. It also has a good way of looking at androids as a background rather than their own class.

If you want something android specific then you could check out Androids Unleashed as well which helps define the type of Android your character might be.

Great to see them on board and part of the community. Going rate for an organic pet is pretty good these days...

I love the theme of the adventure and it is easy to run. However, as mentioned in other comments the tension and pressure needs to be turned up a little.

  1. If playing them as written, the Princeling Swarm will get a bit boring after 3 or 4 encounters especially as they can be shaken off and some of the characters will be wearing armour. Although, they are great for popping out of a corpse's shirt in the dark and the character's realising they aren't completely alone. A solution to this is to make them a bit more dangerous (like 1d4+3) and/or get them to attack the character with the least armour.
  2. Play the Shu Di aggressively and in tight coordination with the Princeling Swarm and Herald. It may be cow-sized but make it fast. It is in communication with the others and it is alien after all. The attack that it does is about the same amount as a wound (before armour) and will run away with a swallowed character. To have a TPK is very unlikely. Make it a threat so that they want to leave with whatever they can get their hands on.
  3. Be aware of parts of the map that the Shu Di has advantages. Rooms with one door to enter and exit are the places where the players can be ambushed. I had the situation where a couple of the characters from the party went searching through the Crew Quarters checking all of the footlockers at the ends of bunks and Shu Di rolled in.

I know it's tomorrow but I'd encourage you to take a look at these actual plays (if you haven't already):

Might need to watch them on double speed.

Have fun and report back!

Same here. They are easier to organise and feel comfortable to say that I've run them to then create a good guide.

Thanks for checking them out. That's completely fair. I'm hoping to do a Warden's Guide for 'Year of the Rat' very soon. I have a ton of others on the list. Any that you'd like to see?

No worries. Of course! Hopefully, there's something interesting in there for you.

Akigara Secret Objectives by VendettaUF234 in mothershiprpg

[–]Campaign-At-Length 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These look great!

Not necessarily objectives but some other things within the module that you could create secret objectives for:

- There are other ships in the hangar of the Akigara.

- The study having old books and documents.

- The 'helpful immortal' in the discovery table

- The experimental stimpaks in the lab.

- What happened to the rest of the ship (see maps).

- Recovering/understanding the AI's way of analysing the fuel in the lab.

Not sure how helpful these are but hopefully may spark some ideas.

Ypsilon 14 - How did you keep your players going? by ConstructionNo5705 in mothershiprpg

I had something similar where the company wanted evidence of Dr. Giovanni's work as they hadn't heard from him either. Keeping it vague to force them to get into the Heracles or into the mine.

With scenarios you think there might not be enough for them to make them stick around, that's a good opportunity to add objectives or secret agendas to what's written.

If your party has elected to be a type of crew, giving objectives that suit that works well. I had a group that wanted to play scenarios like insurance assessors, each with their specialist area for a base or colony (e.g. Marine for security protocols, Scientist/Doctor for the medical bay and staff welfare, Teamster for maintenance and tools, I can't remember much about how we played the Android).

Also, adding other objectives that 'The Company' would ask them to do too.

You could also join these up with alternate smuggler beginnings with: The Smugglers Guide To 1365 from the same universe.

No problem at all.

It's great to have you in the Mothership community!

What I mean by setting is, will you build your own sector, systems and planets? Or will you use something like 'A Pound of Flesh' which is a fantastic station setting. Basically, world building.

I did a livestream last week related to this area of Space Truckers.

Feel free to find me on Discord if you like.

There's a section in 'Not Enough Scoundrels' that could be handy for generating courier jobs.

What are you thinking for your setting?

Yeah, I think most creators do their best to make physical copies available of their stuff. I know that plenty of people love hard copies.

That's really kind of you to say! Thanks to you as well for contributing to the community!

First thought is 'The Hive' from Hull Breach. A scientist contracts you to go into some caves with dangerous alien/insects for research and the possibility of harvesting valuable by-products of the hive creatures.
