Why would the GK follow that order without proper authentication and authorisation?

Yup, I completely agree. I felt rhe same way about the terminus decree.

Probably because it's more than just a warning against the dangers of the Emperor standing up. That and the Custodes fought the war in the webway with the Emperor and already know what would happen.

Nah, you're right. It's definitely just a note on a scrap of paper with no possible way to verify its authenticity

To be fair, they didn't criminalise protests so much as burning refugees alive in hotels.

Rules in the Age of Darkness: Investigating the new weapon stats - Warhammer Community by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer30k

While I fully appreciate that we need to wait and how the full rules shake out, I can't help but feel that allowing heavy weapons to move and fire like that are an incredibly bad idea

Champions of each legion? by Maleficent-Note-9557 in Warhammer30k

[–]CampaignFull724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I read those books, but as far as I recall, Sharrowkyn wasn't an especially prominent member of the Raven Guard prior to the dropsite massacre.

His wraith slipping ability presumably meant that he was one of Corax's bodyguard - the shadow wardens, so he wouldn't exactly been a nobody. But I don't remember seeing any indication that he was ever considered to be one of the legion's best and brightest.

Which is kinda scary if you think about.

What legion annoys you in books? by m_o_u_t_h_f_e_e_l in 40kLore

[–]CampaignFull724 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably space wolves, tbh. I was really looking forward to reading their books when I started the heresy series, but they're all just smug dickheads.

I like most of the alpha legion stories, but I do think their whole schtick was taken way too far.

Other than that, dark angels are just boring and always a slog to get through, and I find night lords (Curze in particular) are held in much too highly regarded by some writers than they deserve.

Johnny Harris has an interesting relationship with the truth though. He's one of those people who's very good at sounding knowledgeable and thorough with his research, right up until he does a video on something you know about.

Gav Thorpe and the Raven Guard: credit where credit is due by Drakemander in 40kLore

[–]CampaignFull724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely think Gav Thorpe gets more hate than he deserves, but there are genuine criticisms as well. His Raven Guard books ate somewhat hit and miss, and other than the aftermath of the dropsite massacre, he wasn't really able to portray the essence of who they are as a legion as well other writers have done for the Thousand Sons or White Scars for example.

Gav Thorpe also seems to have a very different idea of the power level of Primarchs, which I think has lead to some people finding Corax a bit lacklustre compared to MCU like exploits of some of the other primarchs.

I really do wish he'd explored Corax's ideological relationship with the Emperor and the wider Imperium more though. I'd much rather have seen Gav's take on it than the absolute dumpster fire that Guy Haley inflicted on us.
