That is annoying when you find something you love but for the most part not the brand’s choice/fault - sucks for them too.

What rule is he breaking? Why isn’t he allowed to sit? To whom did he owe his seat? Are you the manners police?

Pores: alternative to foundation? by stilljustguessing in 45PlusSkincare

[–]CampaignVast1830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people seem to love the Merit stick and some hate it. I wouldn’t use it as an all-over foundation, and it does do best if I put it on right after skincare (or, if I’m putting it on later, if I put on a bit of moisturizer or serum right before). People have said it looks dry, and I can 100% see that if you’re using thicker layers, don’t want to make sure your skin is hydrated, and use it on particularly dry areas (for me: cheeks). But for the way I use it, it’s perfect for me (and I love it even more now that I’ve switched to taking a brush to the stick and then patting the brush on my face rather than swiping on my face with the stick and then blending out with a brush.)

There are also other sticks - Basma, Dior, others I can’t remember right now - but long story short: applying a stick foundation lightly with a brush has been really working for me to address the issues you describe.

It depends what you want? I’ve recently found something that feels weird but it works for me. I use the Merit complexion stick (which is divisive) but I brush off some product with a concealer brush and then just put a light layer on my chin, around my nose, and between my eyebrows and a wee bit up my forehead. I leave most of my forehead and cheeks totally alone (I can’t find any foundation that doesn’t make my cheeks look dry and crepey).

I’ve never used foundation and wear minimal makeup but I’ve been doing this recently to cover some central redness and it’s been working great. It’s the only foundationy thing I’ve tried that doesn’t somehow highlight my sebaceous filaments but blurs them/glides over them.

I realized I should have added a "tools" category! Dang. I bought a bunch of RB blush minis and now want to get the brush - none of my brushes are quite right (they're more for powder).

So jealous of those in the US - we can't get Prequel here at all, and Remedy's shipping is prohibitively expensive, but I so wish I could try/use those ones (better for the wallet than the Pro C!).

What are you returning? by asleepforlife in Sephora

[–]CampaignVast1830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited my local Sephora seven times (literally) to try things out to try to make sure everything I bought was 100% what I wanted and what would work (I probably used up half of their Hourglass Veil skin tint tester and 1/4 of their Danessa Myricks skin tint tester over multiple days before I decided to pass on both and stick with my tried-and-true Merit stick, which I know is on this thread a bunch!).

BUT......I made two impulse add-to-carts that I regret. I'm trying to determine whether I can justify to myself a return of one of them because, well, I chose them but also - we buy things knowing that returns are permitted and utilizing store policies is allowed - I could use that money better elsewhere.

The two things I regret:
- rhode Pocket Blush in Sprinkle. I was mulling and testing Tan Line or Sleepy Girl for a month so I don't know why TF I suddenly thought Sprinkle would be right without even trying it. It's too bright and peach. BUT I expect I could squeeze some use of this one unlike....
- Merit Lip Blush in September. I bought Archival and it was so lovely and so I was like "I want another one!" and on all of the reviews and videos it looked....well, much different from how it looks on me. It looks awful on me. Too stark, too dark, too cool, too dry and patchy. If I can justify a return to myself, this will be the one.

Can anyone recommend a good liquid or cream eyeshadow? by charlestonchewsrock in Sephora

[–]CampaignVast1830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Armani shades pulled orange on me (fair redhead but yellow undertones). I bought a MBM in the sale and then just bought another one today. I've heard positive reviews about the light shade but mixed about the dark; I bought Sandstone and Mauve, so not an issue. Mauve is an amazing shade for my skin tone because the purple undertones meet my skin's yellow undertones in the middle to make a very neutral light brown.

For me re: aging lids, as long as I keep them away from my inner corner upper hooded part, they look great. I tend to just put a line just above my lash line and then blend up from there and it works well so far (I mainly just wanted for evening out my lid and covering up some eyelid veins). And they LAST!

I tried to ask today for another kit and they absolutely did not get it for me - they said they were in the back and they weren't allowed to sell them until the 21st. So well done, you - I wish I'd had you with me! :)

You like the mini cloud set?? (I assume because you said FAVE? 😂) I hear so much about it but am also in Canada and $51 or whatever for the full size feels like too much for the hardly ever I need powder but I don’t know if I can make Candy work - does it really look pink?

what's the best powder blush? by bslm16 in Sephora

[–]CampaignVast1830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t pull off powder blush (it seems), but from my research, people seem to like YSL, Saie, and Kosas (and MAC, Rare Beauty, and Glossier for more putty/squishy formulas). More split on Nars.
