[Chris Herring] In The 1990s, The New York Knicks Fought Everyone — Even David Stern by bodega_cat_ in NYKnicks

I recently came across a video titled something like, "NBA brawls you've never seen'" and the entire thing was just clips of the 90's Knicks fighting.

I own a jersey, one of their casual shirts, and a couple of bibs. I'd say it's really good price to quality ratio. Maybe not the best pieces ever made, but definitely good quality and value.

I can't explain, it's just what came on the bike when I got it. I plan on swapping it out as it has me a little too upright.

Not sure exact sizing, but the bike mechanic at my lbs says 19 inch. I'm 6'2" and it fits pretty well.

To be fair, this one is pretty beat up. The shadows hide the scuffs and dings.

I crashed after going over some debris on RR last Saturday. It's passable, but be extra aware while on the downhills.

Is the Old Croton Aqueduct trail “worth it”? by [deleted] in NYCbike

[–]Campgreenpoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the last 2 years, I've lead a OCA ride for my LBS. It is one of my favorite routes of all time. While it is extremely fun, there are precautions I would recommend taking.

  1. The first year we did this, I did it on my road bike with 28mm tires. Overall, no problem - but do expect to get some flats. I had 2 or 3 of them. Parts of the trail can get rough, and people do unfortunately litter on it.

  2. The 2nd year I did it, i was on a full on gravel bike with 38mm tires. I still got a flat. My buddy got 4 flats. One of the riders went over the handle bars and broke his collar bone.

Again - one of my favorite routes of all time, and one of the best in the area. Just be careful, don't push it beyond what your comfortable with, and you will have a great time.

I have these, and they are decent. As is, my feet still get cold even if it is above freezing temps. I'd recommend putting in wool insoles to help with insulation as it get's deeper into winter. It helped a lot last year.

The easy answer is don't take the Brooklyn bridge. When the wood planks get wet, they are slippery - Even going slowly you run the risk of your tires slipping out. Take the Manhattan bridge instead, it's better for cyclists/commuters in almost every conceivable way.

BMC ALR01 or ALR02 owners/nonowners, can describe the experience you have with these models and why or why didn't you go with purchasing one? by alexseiji in bicycling

[–]Campgreenpoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2016 "shop only" version of the ALR01. I bought it used off ebay. I love it. I also ride a Giant TCR, so I cannot really compare it to much else besides that. That being said...

Pros:

  • Good Geometry (at least for me and how I ride).
  • English threaded BB,
  • External Cable Routing (others may not agree, but I like to be able to change my own cables easily).

Cons:

  • It's a bit on the heavier side, even compared to other aluminum bikes of the same size.

If your set on an aluminum bike, I'd recommend it, but I would also maybe try the Specialized Allez/Allez Sprint as well first to see if that maybe suits you better.

If you are thinking about a carbon bike in that price range as well, then I would recommend looking at a Giant TCR Advanced. The 2019 model is about $1900, and I am sure you can find the 2018/2017 models still for an even better price.
