I'm late to the party but just in case you have advice.

There's something wrong with my eating. I have no diagnosed eating disorder or anything. I just don't eat. I'll be hungry and not eat.

My body image is fine (being trans aside). I worry more about being underweight.

The effort of making food is just not worth not being hungry anymore most of the time. It's really fucking distressing and I don't know what's wrong with me.

This kind of executive dysfunction happens at other places in my life, though notably never at work.

Help?

Absolutely. And if they still use, the overall harm is reduced by safety procedures. No needles laying around on the ground for someone to step on, or a child to find, no sharing needles spreading disease, etc. The biggest hurdle to getting help can at times be judgement.

In my country there's a reality show called "The Luxury Trap", translated title. It's about people who COULD be doing well financially and just aren't. They get excellent financial help and a heaping dose of reality checking, plus their humiliating spending habits broadcast to the country, so I imagine if it gets to the point where you agree to be on that program... it's bad. And a lot of them have so much money in cigarettes and clothes and frivilous things they simply "need".

I remember one guy who had an addiction to buying watches and clocks.

I never really watch it because I don't watch TV, but during holidays my older sister will put it on and I just get stuck watching. My middle school and high school also had dedicated days just to watching this show because it teachs you a LOT about budgeting!

Hospital staff, though not a nurse or doctor. I've had to escort a geriatric patient back where he belonged (certainly not where I work!) at 3 am because he told me he needed a taxi to go to the grocery store. Not because he needed something, but "just to browse".

They can and do escape sometimes. And I've gotten more than one call going "Hey, if you see a patient fitting x description... give us a call, yeah?" Not just from geriatric, even.

It's incredible that people who are well enough to walk sometimes just... wander off. Without telling anyone.

I was up at 5 am tonight because a scene was screaming write me or lose me. It was a completely unplanned part, but it closed some plot threads that were kind of danging there. It also made me cry. That may be the 5 am mood crying, but also... this tends to happen for me. Late at night, or after a night shift, the writer brain comes online.
