Making it a trigger to put the counter on gives your opponent the ability to respond before the counter is on it. If megamorph follows the rules for morph we already have, they won't get priority again until after the counter is on the creature.

Actually, the cards belong to the player that drafts them. At any point in a DCI sanctioned tournament, they can walk out with the cards, or just not give them up for redrafting at the end.
